arashiangel who begged for more with huge puppy eyes. So this is the fourth part of my drabble series. I don't know Da Pump at all, so any mistakes in characterizations are mine. :-P I'm naming this series "Secret Crush" to make it easier. Thanks to
adronicus for the quick look through but any other mistakes are my own.
Thanks." He slid into the seat next to Ken, signaling the bartender to bring him a drink.
"What are you doing here?" Ken toyed with the ice cubes in his glass, swirling them around and making them clink. "I thought you would be elsewhere."
"Nah. I don't have anywhere important to be. Why shouldn't I be here?" A slender hand picked up the glass of beer, bringing it up to soft lips and sipping it slowly. "After all, I don't mind hanging around my dad's bar."
Ken looked at him with consternation. "Your dad's bar?"
"Yeah. You didn't know?" He ran a hand through his loose hair. The spikes on his leather cuff bracelet caught the dull gleam of the dimmed lights at the bar as his fingers made sure each strand was in place.
"Nah. I didn't know this place was your dad's. I knew it was around here somewhere." Ken sat back and looked at Ryuichi with shock.
Ryuichi smiled and sat forward, dangling his feet over the step. "Yeah. I like to play with Dad's band sometimes. Plus, he says he can be a proper parent and watch over me if I hang out here. It makes him happy, so I do it."
"Ah." Ken had nothing to say, a voice inside him cursing his luck to run into Ryohei's bandmate.
"Ken-san." Ryuichi turned to stare at him, a grave look on his normally happy-go-lucky face. "Are you happy not telling him?"
Words of denial halted on the tip of his tongue. He wanted to deny Ryuichi's implication, shrug it off and claim innocence to who his kouhai was referring to. But something inside him stopped him. He was tired of the longing and the heartache. He was tired of hiding it from the world. But he wasn't sure if he could say the words. He frowned hard at his drink as he thought.
Ryuichi was silent, letting his senpai think things through. He had seen how Ken reacted when he heard Teppei was stopping by to visit. He had suspicions long ago but could not say anything. It wasn't his place. Ken was his senpai and a good mentor. But Ryohei was his best friend and bandmate.
He heard Ken sigh softly before answering him with a soft, "No."
