Online Courses
I've started my online course at phoenix. One of them is ok,the other is shitty thanx to 2 things:
1:It's a persuasive writing class and I'm a writing major and I've already taken all this shit and....
2:My prof is a dogmatic cunt. I HATE these kinds of english professors. She told me she laughed when I wrote that writing didn't have hard rules like math does and that I should read 11 rules that she posted. There are many ways to write. She wants her process and that's it.It's such an individualistic endeavor. I can capitalize something not normally capitalized for emphasis. I can have a character speak in broken sentences. To have such a narrow minded attitude towards writing and the writing process just seems so limiting.
But both classes have this condescension thing going on. Does it occur to these people that some of use might have gone to school before? That we might already know how to do research online? We're treated like we're kids in junior high in a way. It's just so patronizing.And I have to take both classes because Phoenix insists on it and has no tests so that I can bypass the bullshit and get to my major.
I responded to her post sem-harshly. I will not be treated in such a manner. She can disagree with me,but don't tell me I'm absolutely wrong and you're absolutely right. Not about writing. I've written too much stuff over the years to be talked to in such a set- in-stone manner.
