(no subject)
Here I sit at work… Thank god for my laptop. Working at a porn store has always had its ups and downs but as of late its on par with driving needles into my fingernails. I have NO time to do anything these days and the 6 hours I lose to this job each week seem to drag on for 6 months. School has shifted in to high gear.. The majority of my days there are from 8am till 5pm, some are from 9am till 9pm.. The only days I have off are Sunday and Monday. Sunday night I have to waste here for a measly 40 bucks. I can honestly say I never expected my problem to be lack of time just a few months ago.
To add to my lack of time problem, my school moved to an area that takes me an hour to get to by bus… my poor friends must think I hate them given I rarely have time to even see them. If not for the fact I live with my beautiful and thankfully understanding girlfriend I’d never get to see her. I still feel bad for not having more time to spend with her but then again her schedule is just as hectic anyway.. It’s like we never have time for us.. We’re like a married couple… minus the 2.5 kids and the mortgage.. Still it’s so awesome to have someone who’s their for you and loves you back., so I won’t complain about that aspect of my life. Plus she’s got a lot of bad crap going down with her job situation so I’m just trying to be as supportive as I can.
School isn’t really my favourite place to be right now, I really don’t have the passion for the line of work I’m learning but I’m not willing to give up before I graduate.. At the very least it will sound nice on my resume. I want to get into piercing as a career path, when I signed up for the Hair course it was my primary motivation as so many salons are hiring piercerrs I thought I could learn both to become a double threat and land a job easier. I can do hair, I may not enjoy it but I’m doing fairly well with it (I fucking loath finger waves but I can do them really well) and I don’t think I’ll have too much trouble with finishing school other then the fact all the entire time I’m their something in the back of my head is screaming that I’m wasting so many opportunities to do so many things that might not be around later.
I’ve had enough time to take on a few projects in the last 2 weeks however. I landed 2 modeling gigs, one for a local pin up photographer who wanted some practice with male models and one shoot with a photographer who was traveling though the area and decided it fit right in with his current photo project. The first was fun dispite the fact I looked like crap for the shoot, it was a swelteringly hot day and it looked like I just got out of an oven when I arrive at her studio.
The second photographer was working on a project that for a gallery that consisted of some artistic nude shots in the woods then a shoot in a graveyard…. Heh I think I got typecasted with the graveyard stuff. It was odd doing the nude shots as I’m usually on the other end of the camera for such events. We also had lots of random people just show up during the shoot causing me to have to scramble for my clothing as a family just showed up 40 mins outside of the city..in the woods away from any trails.. What are he chances?
I won’t torture any of you with the nudes)
On the weird front, I was walking to meet someone today in town only to get frantically waved over to a parked car. The car was on the other side of a busy street but I ran across anyway almost getting smoked by a truck to see if the person waving me over needed any help. I get their and he says “are you the Q104 FM 10000 dollar fugitive? “ I looking dumb founded say “…no.” he says “oh..” rolls up his window and drives away… Fucking Christ.. A local radio station is having a contest where some guy who fits my description is hanging out in the city till a listener finds him, then he gives them $ 10000.. How great is that? I’ve had 3 fucking people pull the same thing on me since then.. GRRRrrrrrrr
Also I’ve had a bat and a dragonfly randomly attack me in the last 2 days.. Weird omen eh?
