The Up-Goer Five Very Cold Water Breaking Game

Here's an unofficial icebreaker type game, inspired by xkcd and also this thread.

Using the Up-Goer Five Text Editor, write a summary of your canon and post it in the comments. The catch? Just like in the original comic, the editor restricts you to only the thousand most used words in the English language, so you have to get creative ( Read more... )

aaahhh, I so enjoyed reading these XD Super fun idea, Rusty! For mine, I just blathered in simple English about the characters... Not having the words "choices" and "decisions" were the hardest part of it for me since making bad ones plays such a key role in my plots ;) Here we go:

Second Chances is a set of day-to-day life stories about growing up and slipping up. It follows the lives of a group of young people who part ways after high school, only to find themselves drawn back to those they thought they'd left behind.

There's a bright, but not always kind girl (named after a wall-like-thing that keeps out water. [no, the other one]) who wants to write books and be well known for it. She dates a boy who wants to be rock star early in the story (just for three weeks) then gets back together with him while she's in college. But this girl is good at making herself sorry...

Then there's a boy who often does things that are not good ideas when it comes to relationships. Early in the story, he has a sort of stupid on-and-off boyfriend who doesn't really make him feel great about himself. He also has a lot of trouble telling this one guy friend how he feels about him to the point where it's almost funny. You know, in a sad way.

The just mentioned guy friend (who also has a funny name! has his own story too, where he's most concerned with doing well in school, making his mom happy and being the first in his family to go to college (which hey, he does manage to do). He often feels like he has a lot to live up to and gets nervous about it.

There's also a blonde (or sometimes green-hair) girl who is a lot of fun and a good friend. She seems to have trouble finding a boyfriend which sometimes makes her sad. But the first year she's in college, a trip up with the school's housing leads her to meet a boy who could fill that position.

EVERYONE IS REALLY COOL.

haha I love the description of Mike. Also "to the point where it's almost funny. You know, in a sad way." perfect.
