"A magican, like a prostitute, never reveals her secrets."
Andrew just called, and he has tickets for a sneak preview for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
And it was fucking great. Johnny Depp was so good. We felt bad for the kids in the audience because (just like all of Tim Burton's stuff) it wasn't aimed at children. It was so dark and demented. I would write more, but I'm out of it. I'll have to see it again. And buy it when it comes out on DVD.
I know so many people that aren't going to see it because they think it's a remake of the Gene Wilder version. Well, it's not. At all. They didn't make any songs; all of the songs the Oompa-Loompas sing are from the book (during the credits, it says, "LYRICS BY ROALD DAHL"), and there is actually history behind Willy Wonka. You understand why he's so tormented and distorted.
I need to finish watching "Dark Habits" already and start watching "Dead Man Walking."
