We fixed the clothes dryer!
After figuring out that the belt had given up the ghost, I called around for some estimates to have said belt replaced. Best price I could find was... get this... $265.00! For an $18 part! So. I ordered a new belt, plus an idler assembly, just in case, and also a do-it-yourself manual, from Sears.com. (Kenmore dryer) Total, with shipping, was $63. (Turns out the idler pulley was totally gone, and I was right to have ordered a new one.)
The repair took about 30 minutes, and some aspects of it did sorta resemble a Chinese fire drill, but we got it done! Dryer works beautifully. And I'm ahead $200.00. Not bad for half an hour's work, I'd say.
Am I proud, you ask? Oh, hell, yeah!
