This last 24 hours has been absolutely fantastic. It all started last Thursday when we realized how much we were going to miss choir, and we successfully carried out the play of camping out in Deitz's yard last night.
First-we met at Ruth's house, and by we I mean Amy, Lindy P, Ruth, Aneisa, Cody and I (but Cody ended up not spending the night) Then we practiced setting up the tent and baked Deitz a "we'll miss you" cake and recorded a cooking show while we baked. Then we blasted N*Sync while we were on the way to A & W in Glenwood but on our way we harassed the marching band for awhile. So we ate and then found the squirrel car in a bar parking lot. The car was really old and tan and it had a large metal squirrel on the hood. We took pictures by it and then discovered that the squirrel was a nutcracker! We made it chew gum. Then we went to Ruth's and practiced Can't Hurry Love for the variety show and brought Deitz the cake. We pretended that we weren't seriously going to camp in his yard and said things like: "we miss choir so much, we might have to set up a tent in your yard!" and then laughed and said: "no seriously..." and he called us weirdos and showed us a good place to camp and gave us a flashlight and matches, but he didn't really believe we were going to.
Then we went to Ben's house for a little while and got back to Ruth's at 1 a.m. We didn't want to take the tent down again so we just put it on top of Ruth's car as it was and held it and drove to Deitz's. With Camp set up, Lindy and I built a cool fire and Lindy climbed a tree to get us some marshmellow roasting sticks. After some good food, toothbrushing/lots of spitting, and good conversation we went to sleep. And I got four good hours of sleep in, and I'm still not tired...yet...
In the morning we quick went to Ruth's and Lindy made monkey bread, and we made pancake batter to make pancakes over the fire. It was very tasty. Mr. Deitz came out and ate with us and said he was honored that we camped out in his yard, and that if he had known we were serious he would have shown us how to use his hot tub/ left his downstairs bathroom open for us to use...then he invited us to camp again, which we will.
Ruth left to go have a Bible study, and Aneisa left to set up for her Grad party but Lindy and Amy and I caught fish on the dock by throwing pancakes in the lake and then catching the fish with a net. It was so funny. Then we went back to Ruth's and did dishes and watched our documentary. And I just took a very needed shower. It was so fun to play outside and camp. And fish with pancakes?
I suppose I'll see ya'll at the graduation party FEST tomorrow!! I love all of ya.
