My birthday, as is usual, was cold and damp. Pp had his first gout attack in over a year, poor bloke. Under the circumstances, we kept the walk short.
Then we went to the Ferry House Inn, which is just the other side of the Cleddau for lunch. It has great views, that pub, but I have to admit they are better when it's not grey and mizzling.
I go swimming there sometimes, and the lights are rather lovely if it's an evening swim. I painted it last week, complete with swimmers:
I ate mussels and a really very good Welsh rarebit.
(Buoyed with birthday excitement, I decided to try the pronunciation 'rabbit' because I'd just read an article about how that was probably the original spelling / pronunciation. I got some very dubious looks from Pp and the landlady. :-D )
Apart from that, it wasn't a major celebration as Pp is off to GaryCon in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It's a very long time since either of us have flown anywhere, so there was more confusion and checklists than there would be if we were in the habit.
The more so, since I'm running the Shop for the next couple of weeks, and the Shop is quite a lot of work nowadays. But he has got there, and all seems well.
Also, we just got our first order from Argentina! This meant I got to put a new flag-pin in the customer map, which hasn't happened for a while.
Today, I went swimming twice, first in the Cleddau, next to the Ferry House Inn, and then, because the sun had come out and it was a gorgeous day, in the sea at Freshwater East. It was surprisingly warm in the sun, though the sea was cold, of course. About 8 degrees, someone said.
I took Theo with me, though he is not a swimmer, so he had to stay in the car while I swam. I felt a bit guilty about that, though it really wasn't hot enough to be a problem. But I think he enjoyed the walks before and after, which he would not have had if he'd stayed at home. Rosie did stay at home for the second swim, though she came along for the first one and had a very gentle bimble along the shingle, sniffing everything with great enthusiasm.
