From experience, horses are surprisingly literate when it comes to helping themselves to sweet apples...

Must be a better year for apples this year - we didn't see a single "help yourself!" box in the village last autumn...

I think our local gardeners are more mercenary, you are more likely to see a '4 apples = 50p' sign in our village! But these were quite small apples...

It makes sense in our village, given that we are not on the way to anywhere so there are a fair number of people clopping about, but I don't think I've seen anyone stop off on horseback for a pint (voting, yes. People often seem to combine voting with a ride).

Perhaps now there is a new post at the pub they will though! That pub is full of new ideas at the moment, although I suppose arguably that is actually a rather old idea.
