I've not made these yet, but a reliable source tells me they are well worth a try, particularly as I have a tin of custard powder that I am unlikely to use in any other way:
Custard buns
Makes 12, Prep 10 mins, Cook 20 mins
160C/ gas mark 4
Ingredients
100g custard powder
200g softened butter
2 eggs
4 tbsp milk
140g caster sugar
100g self raising flour, sifted
150g icing sugar
hundreds and thousands to decorate
- Preheat oven
- place paper cases in muffin tray
- Beat the custard powder with the butter, eggs and milk
- Stir in the sugar and fold in siftend flour
- Spoon into paper cases
- Bake for 20 mins
- Leave to cool and then ice to make them look pretty (unless you manage to tip the box on the way to work and they go splat) .
