Apple & other fruits

Just ate the first apple.  The early eating apple tree has again not done well this year, but now we've cleared around it, it is looking happier: I'm hopeful that next year it will do better.  It would probably like a mulch of compost.

I've just been cutting back the grape vine - it made a lot of growth this year, but no grapes :-( , There were

LOL, good point...
In my defence, usually when attempting to photograph wildlife it doesn't sit there 5 feet away looking at you quizzically while you take about 40 shots to get the focus exactly right!

At one point he flew away and I thought I must have got too close and scared him. Then I realised that he'd actually landed next to me and was having a snack, having spotted a horrible manylegged thing that was obviously just too wonderful to pass up...

We spent some time today watching another sort of "rescue dog" - Newfoundlands recovering people (volunteers!) from the water, and obviously enjoying it.
