 Az is in a bit of a state. I'm not quite sure why but there were people breaking up sticks by the river this evening (to throw in for their dogs). I'm not sure if it was the fact that there were a group of them, or that they were holding sticks or the snapping noise, but he went all weird and shaky and every time we met anyone on our way back he

adaese has suggested that one of the people, or something they did, reminded him of an earlier bad experience.

Yes, almost certainly the case. When he was found running along a motorway he apparently showed the marks of having been beaten with a stick, and he was very fearful of anyone holding long things for ages.

I'm not sure why snapping and popping noises frighten him, but he's terrified of fireworks, and he was found in November, so that might have something to do with it. Large groups of people have also been a problem in the past, but I don't know why on that one.
