On Wednesday an ENT confirmed that Helena is almost completely deaf from fluid and mucus trapped in her ear. Her last ear infection was 2 1/2 weeks ago, but the fluid is just sitting there waiting to be re-infected. She has lost some of her 'words', and she brings books to me to be read to, then gets upset because she can't hear me. She keeps taking the book out of my hands and giving it back to me, trying to get me to read it to her, not understanding that I am.
So she's getting tubes put in on Monday morning, and a follow up with a speech therapist to make sure she is getting her vocalizations back.
I had hoped to have a birthday party for her on Sunday the 14th, but it's unlikely I will get both Monday and Sunday off. With Christmas and New Year's being right after that. I'm thinking that her party will have to wait until early January. :(
She to young to know or care about the party, but I feel like a shitty mom.
