I survived Week 2. Early this week we took a trip to downtown Dallas, I got lost. Really really lost. It was bad. I rarely lose my way or if I do I can easily figure it out. Ha, they gave us nearly 2 hours to get there and I still managed to be late by 5 minutes. I've never been so lost and hungry. Fyi, I will never go to downtown Dallas alone again. And the people leisurely laying around the parking lot I left my car at really helped my sense of security. Hehe, as did going down MLK Blvd and Malcom X while trying to find 35. I finally found my fear! Getting lost in downtown Dallas.
Yesterday we got to drive the engines and did teambuilding stuff when we weren't driving. One that involved me being blindfolded with my gear/on air in the middle of a grass field with orange cones and barrels in various spots. One of my partners was in the tower with a radio giving me directions on where to step. One of the instructors followed me around trying to see if he could get me to freak out, he turned my air off a few times. I felt him do it so I quickly fixed the problem, he did it a couple of more times until I got wise and just left my hand on it. According to everyone watching the instructor followed me step for step the whole time, which explains the constant shadow I felt like I had even though I couldn't see. Near the end of it my low air alarm started going off, that was largely due to the fact that my mask leaks and I've got the smallest mask available. Anyhoo, my teammate did great navigating me through every thing. I can't wait until we get to start doing the mazes and stuff.
Next week I'm captain for the week and day captain on Monday and Thursday. It'll be interesting.
