The boy is home and judging by all the love he's giving me, he's glad to be here. It's amazing how forgiving pets are. You can take them to the vet, put them through Lorena Bobbit surgery, and they still love you.
His back end and some of his tummy are shaved clean, which makes him look a little freaky, and I can tell by his eyes that he's in a lot of pain. When I got him home he was walking around like a drunken sailor but that seems to have gotten better. I think the vet expected him to come home and sleep but he hasn't really laid down since he got home, which also makes me think he's in a lot of pain. Unfortunately, I can't give him any pain medicine until about 1am. Thankfully, they gave him the two week antibiotic shot so I don't have to give him that. He did eat so that's good and he was in and out of the litter box, which is good to see.
The Dr. told me no clay litter and I really hate that yesterday's news litter so I found this stuff that's made from corn cobs. I love it! No odor, very little, if any dust, it's light and very scoopable, it's 100% biodegradable, and it's safe for cuts and wounds. The cats really seem to like it and they aren't tracking it all over the place. I'm sold.
Right now he's in the soft e-collar and he's doing okay with it. They gave me the hard version too, which he might get tomorrow while I'm at work. I hate putting that on him (or any cat) though because it's so restricting. So far only Harry is freaked out by him. Sophie pretty much could care less. Harry's been following him all over the place, sniffing at him but not hissing. I think he's mostly just afraid of the e-collar. And the weird vet smells.
So, thanks to everyone for the good thoughts. My baby is home and recovering and hopefully, all better soon. Now if we could just fast forward through the next 10 days.
