Doing My Part for the Economy

Feb 16, 2009 14:44

I'm taking the holiday today. So far no fires to put out so I just might make it. I have to take time off otherwise I'm going to start losing vacation hours. I could take off every Monday from now until the end of the year and still have hours left over. Sad but true.

The main reason for taking today off was to get my car into the shop. I've been trying to do it for two months and just couldn't get the time during the week. I took it in this morning for an oil change and to get the tires rotated but it was due for the 37,500 mile check up and that includes a long list of items. Plus, I'm thinking it might need front brakes and Michael, the service manager who takes care of me, called to say I need a couple of parts that are expensive but under warranty. They gave me a loaner to use until tomorrow so I just have to remember not to fly through the E-ZPass lane in the morning since I won't have my little transponder thingy.

Since I was already in Tyson's and it was before noon, I went to the mall and did my part to stimulate the economy. Actually, I think I may have funded a small Midwest town. I haven't been shopping in actual stores for a long time. After going to Macy's, I realized why. Yikes!

Since I now don't have to worry about heading back into Tyson's to pick up my car, I think I'll try to do a little writing. Maybe. I'm having a terrible time getting through this last part. Seriously, I can see the finish line but I seem to have run out of steam.

I should also mention that this was a great weekend! On Saturday I got to put faces with LJ names and had a really great time! The Capitals crushed Tampa Bay on Saturday and Florida on Sunday. Mike Green set a new record (with his dad in attendance), Michal Neuvirth got his first NHL win in his NHL debut (the kid was amazing!), and Ovie got his third hat trick of the season. Saturday was Tuckerbee's 2nd birthday. I can't believe he's that old already! Thankfully, apart from the occasional slip-up, he's over his poo issues now.
