Alrighty, it's Wed and therefore I promised a 100-500 word ficcie based on a song. Mab suggested 'We've Come too Far to End it Now' by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles (actually so far she's the only one to suggest a song to date :P, hopefully there will be more offered up for the following Weds) and so here without any further ado I give you:

"…and that was good old Smokey Robinson and the Miracles with their very meaningful classic 'We've Come too Far to End it Now', a great song from a great band. Keep listening to Cascade's best radio station, C108.5, and we'll keep the best of the past, present and future coming. Now for a short word from our spons-"
Jim growled from the drivers seat of his truck and turned the radio off with a sharp motion. He didn't need to hear anymore 'meaningful' songs, especially if they were anything like the one he'd just heard. He'd turned the radio on so that he wouldn't have to think of the fight he and Sandburg had just had, but no, he just had to tune in when they were playing a song with a particularly relevant message. Relevant to him at least. It was enough to make him wonder if he had been born under some really unlucky star.
His odd working relationship with Blair Sandburg was more than enough extra strangeness in his life, but thanks to his unwelcome genetic quirks, the damned song was stuck in his head and he couldn't help but apply the words to his situation. His recent fight with Sandburg, really just another in a long line of arguments - mostly over his senses and the need for tests. The way they both tended to say things they didn't mean when angry until one, or both, of them stormed out. Their inevitable reconciliation as neither man could stand the separation… 'We've come too far to end it now' indeed.
Because, despite himself and the odd working relationship, he and the younger man had somehow become friends. An unlikely pair, the two of them had somehow become a modern day odd couple after Sandburg had moved in 'temporarily' after his previous home had blown up and then never moved out. Jim wasn't keen on him leaving either, he liked having the younger man close like he was - except when the little bastard got on his case like he had today, that's when he could easily see a little more space being a good thing.
He would never actually say anything remotely like that though, Blair might take him seriously and move out which is not something Jim ever wanted to happen.
Jim sighed. He supposed enough time had passed and that he should probably start thinking about going back and working things out. Mentally grumbling at knowing he was going to have to apologize he glanced around to see where he was and his eyes caught sight of a storefront in the distance. One that he knew was a favorite of Blair's. He grinned as he aimed his truck towards the destination, thinking 'but as a wise woman once told me, it never hurts to have a bribe to help smooth the way.'

Hope you all enjoy and let me know what you think. :)
