Well, my keys which descended to the dead have risen again. Youpi. I still want an Intel iBook. Apart from some leering in my direction in Spanish and skipping French grammar, I rode to McPhail's and bought some goodies for my bike/chain. Combo included citrus degreaser (i.e. citrus-perfumed kerosene), All-purpose cleaner (safe for plastic and rubber, unlike degreaser), and some sort of polish/wax for the finish. Pack came with some cheap lube, but I got some other stuff that hopefully will be good for the winter. As far as polish for the finish... ...i may clean & polish up the rims on my beater in the hopes of retarding the rust on them, but other than that, it's my beater, it's supposed to look ugly. But I can use that (and the cleaner and degreaser) on my good bike too. I need to either hit some trails with it this summer or buy some slick tires for the street. Riding around on knobby tires on pavement is not ideal. The one time last spring when I got pissed off and rode around town, I had great fun in the research and technology part that hadn't yet been built. They were just grading out some dirt, lots to play in: so much fun. Alas, now it's got buildings and parking lots where I once had said fun. *Tear* Maybe I should just give up on trails (cause there really aren't that many real close) and go with the slicks when all sign of snow is gone. Then I could ride around ring road and get fit. I did that a few times last year: it's fun, but... watch out for loud iPod-donning students or idiotic driver who don't look before stepping out/pulling out onto ring road. People are real stupid like that. Anyway, my chain is degreased, rinsed off, and WD-40'ed to displace the rinse water. I'll lube'er up tomorrow and we'll be in ok shape. I still don't know what to do about the links I can't free (i.e. some are frozen in one position and absolutely will not bend no matter how hard I try. Oh well, maybe the WD-40 on it all night will help? We'll see.
Hasta la vista,
Gags
