Milestones and Mile High..

Wow, what a headache!

Yesterday, my darling sister Amanda turned 18. Just look at her...

I must admit, I cried a little. Of course I'm happy for her and all, but it's scary to think of my baby sister as "legal" and free to do what she wants. Perhaps I'm just a tad too paternal, but I worry about her. She hasn't exactly been a slice of pie all of her life, and I just hope she has learned enough over the years to behave responsibly going forward.

We had the party in Palm Harbor at a nice Italian joint called Angelinos. The food was insanely delicious, and the crowd that Amanda invited was pretty familiar and friendly. I don't know what gene there is that commands fathers and brothers to spoil this daugthers/sisters, but hopefully they'll find a cure someday... lol. She made out like a bandit. Aside from the $180 in cash, she got tons of name-brand purses, a watch, a diamond heart-shaped necklace from the guy that is courting her, and tons of other goodies. I got her 2 salon passes to her favorite place, Tiffanies, as well as 19 roses (18 years, plus one for good luck o.-), and a very sentimental card with a blank check in it so I can take her shopping for a tint on her Celica. On the bright side, I didn't sign the check (yet), so I'm not completely broke, hehe.

We spent most of the party eating and drinking, with me doing a bit more drinking than eating. As the party began to die down and guests filtered out, my sister taught my parents the joy in sucking the helium from the party baloons that she was sure she didn't want to keep. Needless to say, I don't mind listening to my dad sing as much anymore, but only for the belly laugh it gave me. By the end of the night, I all but passed out. I just hope she enjoyed it as much as we did, despite the disappointing 2am curfew she now has. Oh well...

*Sigh*... 4 more hours here at work, then I can go lay my head down for a nice movie. I just want to curl up and squeeze something lol. Today would've been a fantastic day to just sit inside and shift between dozing and watching movies. I just hope my homework isn't too bad tonight, because I doubt I'll be able to concentrate much.

Well, lunch is over, and I'm full. Back to fixing computers for nameless, thankless customers, :D. I'm going to crank my mp3 player up and try to ride the day out. Thank goodness I heard a little 'Brown-eyed Girl' before lunch. That put a smile on my face :) I think I'm starting to become fond of 100.7, The Mix. Talk about a shift in tastes... *shrug*
