Vanessa Loves Jim!

Our Anniversary is coming up in a little more then a week and while we don’t go crazy with gifts or anything, we always take a little bit of time over a good meal to discuss where we’ve come from and where we’re going. As far as trials go, we’ve had relatively few and consider ourselves quite fortunate in all aspects of life. Anniversaries are a yearly reminder to take stock, figure out what’s not working and celebrate what is.

It’s been a good ride so far. We’ve got a roof over our head, two amazing pups, a healthy family, good friends, a sweet baby on the way and 8 years of pure wedded bliss. Life definitely is good.

And yet…with all the good changes that are taking place in the world, I still can’t believe Proposition 8 passed or that the question of same sex marriage can even be debated. Have we not learned anything from the past? Separate is never equal.

When did it become the right of the religious to decide what was good for all? So you may not believe in same sex relationships. Fine, no problem. You have every right not to partake in them. I just don’t get how a woman loving another woman has any bearing on the religious community who objects to them.

I’m really trying very hard not to be an angry atheist but stuff like this is making it really hard not to. It just makes no sense to me.

(or Keith Olbermann either!…you’ve got to watch his commentary!)
