snow times, not snow days.

So, yesterday, seeing as how it snowed like a foot, we SHOULD HAVE HAD A SNOW DAY but, unfortunately, the snow came a little bit late. I was sitting in class with Mme Chadabe and she was like "you know it is bad this year that it always snows during the day and you don't have snow days" in her little french accent. We were like YEAH...WE KNOW. So, not only did i have to go to a full day of classes, and none of them were cancelled by the way, even though half of everyone was missing, i also had to go to track practice! Guess what we decided to do? a "FUN SNOW RUN!" While this did indeed consist of playing in the snow and making snow angels, it also consisted of consistently running for 20 minutes straight, half of which was against the wind, and when it's snowing, and you're running against the wind, I can assure you, you will be faced with the decision of whether or not you should run backwards and risk falling over in order ot make your eyes less painful, or run forwards while looking down, or take the pain of a million snow flakes slamming into your eyeballs. None of these decisions are fun. So after the 20 minutes of running in snow that was about...oh, 5-6 inches deep (only because of the snow plow), someone had the AWESOME idea of running across the senior triangle! (by the way, that was me, after giving permission for anyone to do it.) SO Here i am KNEE DEEP in snow attempting to run. This is by the way, in warm up pants (which aren't very heavy), and a sweater (which isn't heavy enough). So, when we FINALLY got back to the gym, my ankles were in fact, quite red. And it took me a while just to get warm, and dry all of my clothing off. But that wasn't the end of it, oh no. Most people would quit after that and go take a warm shower or something of that sort. NO. not me! I had to then partake in some lovely hurdling training! And seeing as how I am completely out of shape and have lost any flexibility I might have had, and also considering the fact that I had just come in from the cold, wet outside, this was a very difficult thing to do. But first I had to set the hurdles up. Of course, today was the day that I decided I would practice with TWO Hurdles instaed of ONE (there isn't much room in the gym). So, I went and asked Mr E. how far apart the hurdles were. He told me it was 10 feet. So i got the tape measure out, and set up two hurdles, 10 meters apart. See, when I hurdle I do this thing called "4 stepping," meaning I take 4 steps between each hurdles. I am trying to get to 3 stepping this year to be competitive. Well when I went to jump over the two hurdles in a row, I was doing somethign along the lines of 5 stepping. I was rather befuddled, because I am not a five stepper, so I went and asked Mr Easterling if he was SURE it was 10 meters. OF COURSE HE WAS. and so was every other male coach. I asked a FEMALE coach if I could look it up, and turns out, it's 8.5 meters. MEN. so after finally setting up all the hurdles right I proceeded to jump them, and the rest of my day went pretty normally, except for the fact that Mr E is always talking about how I should do the 400 Hurdles, and how I was a miracle last year, because he would never have thought I'd win them a point in sectionals BLAH BLAH BLAH. And then came dinner. And then came study hall. and then came homework. And then came sleep. So that was the extent of my day. It was really really fun! I am so ready to get out of here.
