If resorting to force doesn't stop the bullying, you're either doing it wrong or not applying enough force.

Even if one managed to scare their bullies from attacking them physically ever again, they can still get bullied because bullying is not always physical. If someone is spreading a nasty ass rumor of you and people are believing it, which results in them outcasting you...how is a fist in the face going to stop that type of bullying? Especially if you don't know who's spreading those rumors around (because it's not like anyone is going to boldly admit they are spreading stuff about you)

Oh god. Fighting fire with fire doesn't work. If you want people to take you seriously on issues, you have to be willing to try to make them understand by explaining, not intimidating. I see way too many GLBTQ-- community members getting incredibly violent/prejudiced themselves in their fight for equality and it's really disheartening. :(

In a less-broad sense, though, I feel bad for Scott Thompson, because it sounds like he didn't have a good life and that's what's gotten him to those views. I hope he can find some sort of inner peace someday.

Oh yes, let's tell the bully a nice heartwarming story about how he's hurting your feelings, then kiss and make up with a nice spot of tea.

Fuck that. Bullies have no conscience. The only thing they understand or respect is violence. The only way to get them to leave you alone is to hit them back hard enough to make them afraid of you, which should be fairly simple as bullies are all cowards. Of course, if they have friends, you'd better have friends of your own, or a damned good plan B, but in most cases excessive force earns their respect.

lol After seeing the other comments you left here, it's pretty clear you're either trolling or completely missing the point. And as you pointed out, sharing stories/explanations won't work, so rather than argue with you: good day. :)

I like his comment regarding the casting of gay men (and by extension, queer people and bullied kids) as eternal victims. It definitely is not an empowering image, and we shouldn't be advising people to simply wait out their time in bullying hell. However, if his definition of empowerment is punching people in the face...

I wonder what he makes of Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi, who effected the most change without punching anyone in the face. They essentially made the same promise to their constituents, after all.

That's why you go for the excessive force. If a bully punches you in the stomach, you kick him in the nuts and then break his nose while he's in agony. A bully punches you in the face, you push him down a flight of stairs. If a person strikes you on one cheek, SMASH him on the other. That way, you get across the message of "fuck with me, and you'll be lucky to survive. Fuck with me, and you'll end up needing a wheelchair." If he doesn't get the message after that, then he's a future Darwin Award winner waiting to happen.

What happens if the bully is a girl? You do know that girls can bully right? So, I doubt "kick to the nuts" is going to be effective for bullies with no balls to begin with.

And again, not all bullying is physical. I doubt a lot of people would be willing to use violence as a way to solve their issue with bullying if it wasn't physical. Most people don't want to use violence unless it's in self-defense, and even then...they're hesitant to use it because it might actually make things worse for them.

Cunt punt is just as painful to girls as a nutcrack is for boys.

Good advice. Unfortunetely, I knew this answer when I was a kid but 1. Was too much of a pacifist to use it. 2. I was only rarely physically bullied. 3. Even if I *had* thrown a punch, I doubt I'd have done more than hurt my own hand. I have always been physically weak. Oh sure, I got/get stronger when fueled by rage, but for me, fear overwhelms rage. And even at my strongest, I don't know that I would have hurt any of my bullies. Hell, I'm 10 years older than my sister, and even when she was 12 she could *always* beat me at arm wrestling.
