Trolls versus serious threats (and does that really matter?)

This isn't entirely about bullying, but it is about nasty internet comments and when to (and when not to) dismiss them.

Personally, I do think trolling can become bullying. If it's a random commenter that says random crap to me, they are typically a shit stirrer imo. While shit stirring trolls go away if you ignore them, but they come back under a different name and harrass you more on a repeated basis...that's when they cross the line into bully from troll. Of course, a bully or a troll doesn't always have to threaten you or name call you. A primary objective of a troll is rile people up by saying anything that will get them put on ignore or reported ( ... )

Okay, I'll do that!

And you're right that Facebook doesn't have to be public. Mine is pretty locked up. What does make it hard is that not everyone else is private, including groups; I've made personal in-jokes that showed up on my friends' feed because I didn't realize the person I was responding to had made all of their posts public. Out of context, it was actually very awkward. Fortunately for me though, awkward was the worst of it.

You had very bold responses! I tried, but I tended to do it really poorly.
