Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
☞ Colonnello can be considered as an A-class sniper, with an excellent skill for shooting, knowledge, and love for the use of heavy artillery such as anti-tank sniper rifles. He carries around an anti-tank rifle himself, and is also able to emit his Dying Will Flame into the weapon, instead of using bullets. His Dying Will Flame is of the Rain Element, which makes it a bright blue-- the same color as his pacifier.
☞ Maximum Burst; An attack in which his rifle charges up a mass of his Dying Will Flames, and is then released as an extremely powerful blast of blue energy, in the shape of a hawk.
☞ Flight; With the help of his animal partner, a hawk he calls Falco, Colonnello is able to fly, his bird holding him by the collar, hair, helmet, ect. taking him wherever he needs to be in a short amount of time.
☞ COMSUBIN training; Due to Colonnello's training in COMSUBIN, he is a specialist in trapping, as well as an expert in Karate and Sambo (he once took down 1,375 hitmen single-handedly. Reborn counted).
Weapons: His rifle and his combat skills.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
☞ Colonnello was born and raised in Italy, and once he was old enough, pursued his choice of becoming part of COMSUBIN, an elite Italian Navy combat unit. This cocky young man wanted to be trained by the best-- and he had his sights on one of the best, most toughest teachers; A cold, brute woman by the name of Lal Mirch. Countless times, he had confronted Lal Mirch and asked to be taken under her wing as an apprentice. Each and every single time, he was turned down. Lal continued to reject him, no matter what he did, saying that he was just an army brat with zero potential in life. That he should just go home because it wasn't worth it staying here. Everything he did always backfired on him, and proved to her that he was hopeless-- still, Colonnello never gave up. He continued to try and try hard, until finally, one day, he proved himself worthy to her. As much as she was reluctant, she gave him a chance. She was now his master, and he was now her student.
☞ Training came hard and tough. No day was a walk through the park, but a grueling day in the sun, rain-- whatever weather it was. Though it was all worth it. No matter how merciless Lal Mirch was as a teacher, it made Colonnello who he is now. She shaped his attitude, his muscles, his knowledge, and sharpened his discipline, his mind, and his body. Sure, she was serious all the time-- but not Colonnello. While taking quick breaks, he would jump on his teacher's back with a bottle of open water and a huge grin plastered on his face. While taking pictures, Colonnello would drape his arm over her shoulder and grin at the camera, or place his hand right on top of her head (there was a very huge height difference, even though colonnello was younger than her), while Lal looked away from the snapping lenses, with a usual scowl on her face (and a tinge of red against her cheeks bawww). She was his teacher and he respected her-- though he had always been more friendly to her, as well as teasing her, joking around with her, and bothering her plenty of times.
☞ One day, Lal received a confidential letter, that ordered her to become part of a project involved within the mafia. This was the Arcobaleno project, in which seven powerful people, who were one way or another involved with the mafia before hand, would be cursed into infants for life, giving them power beyond belief. It was hard, but she had to accept her duties, and to accept this project, she would have to resign from COMSUBIN and leave the life she had forever. Somehow, Colonnello found out, and followed her on the life changing day, to the top of a mountain along with the other six. He was soon pointed out by a hitman, who we know in the series as "Reborn". Coming out of hiding, Colonnello states that he's followed Lal so that he could take her place. Lal tried to send him away, but he continued to follow, with Lal's well-being completely at heart. He didn't want her to go through this, and even if he didn't have a well thought out plan, he would do anything to save her.
His plan, sadly, backfired on him like everything else. In an attempt to push her away from danger when they faced the curse, Lal wasn't completely saved. Colonnello had taken her place as the Rain Arcobaleno and was turned into an infant, receiving the pacifier that was meant for Lal, but Lal was also turned into an infant. In the process, her curse became incomplete and corrupted, causing her cheek to scar and her energies to dangerously distort to elements they shouldn't be. This left her slightly crippled, having weakened eyesight in one eye and suffering from a sickness due to the distorted energies. As much as he tried, Colonnello couldn't save her-- but he didn't dwell on it. Not even a bit.
When it was all over, and the Arcobaleno parted ways, Colonnello approached Lal, joking, saying that "the way I was going to save you was supposed to be a lot cooler". Yet, he continues to smile, and informs her that as long as she doesn't use the curse, her body should revert back to adult form as time passes, since it was incomplete. She asks him what he was going to do with his life now, that he couldn't do what he used to. Colonnello simply replied with "I'll continue living". He makes a move, his now tiny little arm reaching out to her and gently stroking her cheek with his hand, asking her "Will you come with me?". Lal is speechless for several seconds, blushing and staring at him. You would almost be sure she would say yes... but she didn't. Instead, she batted his hand away, yelling at him with a "why would anyone want to go with an idiot like you?!" He laughs it off immediately, stating that he was only joking (nice save). This is when the two part ways, to most likely never see each other again. While parting, his words of advice were to take care, not use the curse, and quit being such a tomboy; that this was her chance to live a more lady-like life. He may have not seen it, but as he walked away, without looking back, Lal was on the verge of tears, silently reaching out to him, before turning and walking away as well.
☞ Colonnello is then introduced in the Daily Life Arc, when Sawada Tsunayoshi fails a test at Mafia Land, and is sent to the little blond baby to train and pass the next test. Colonnello is in charge of the training grounds to this Mafia-run resort, and puts Tsuna through too many beatings to count. Once laying his eyes on Reborn, they immediately draw out their guns and shoot at each other. Colonnello is shot right at the forehead and falls. While Tsuna flails and panics over how Reborn has just killed "another weird baby", Colonnello sits up and holds out the bullet that hit his forehead, which was crushed and left him unscathed. Him and Reborn beat and torture Tsuna, in a competitive contest to see who is the most strict tutor. When Skull, another Arcobaleno arrives on the same day (causing chaos), with a fleet of combat ships, Colonnello easily destroys them with his rifle.
☞ The next time we see Colonnello is during the Varia Arc. He is assigned to become Ryohei Sasagawa's tutor, and trains him for a face off against The Varia for their respectful guardian rings. He also observers the other battles, such as Tsuna's match. During and after this training, it is known that Colonnello stays at his student's house, and let's his younger sister, Kyoko Sasagawa, give him baths, tuck him in at night, and read him bed time stories.
☞ In the Future Arc, Colonnello does not appear, but is mentioned and seen in Lal Mirch's flashbacks, because he and the rest of the Arcobaleno (except for Lal) are believed to be dead, due to a rivaling family called the Millefiore, who have created a radiation that makes the Arcobaleno drop like flies. That's not how Colonnello died though. Instead, he had sacrificed his life to save another Arcobaleno, Mammon, who moments later took his own life. Colonnello left his mark on Lal after his death though, who is seen crying for him multiple times in the series. Once, in a lake while bathing, his headband held tightly in her hand, then another, while she is battling Gingerbread who claims to have been present during Colonnello's death and torture and boasts about it. She proceeds to have flashbacks of him, which leads her to tears and a boiling anger, releasing her curse and destroying Ginger... Or rather, his double.
☞ During the Arcobaleno Trails Arc. (which only appears in the anime, but is still considered canon by the author), Colonnello was the first to administer his Trail, which is the Trail of Combat Ability. Tsuna and his guardians must all win the seals when they return to the past (ahhhh timetraveling can be confusing :c), so they will be able to unlock weapons in the future to defeat Byakuran, boss of the Millefiore. After Colonnello proves to be a tough opponent, Tsuna manages to severely damage his rifle while in Hyper Dying Will mode, earning Colonnello's approval and seal. Colonnello even meets with Lal again, who at first sight, aim guns at each other, then engage in an intense hand-to-hand combat. While Colonnello is quick on his feet and strong with his hands, Lal was stronger and managed to pin him down like a teacher should. After he jokes and smiles, leaving her with those blushing cheeks and flustered yelling-- just like good old times.
☞ Back in the future, a girl named Uni, who is the granddaughter of the head of the Arcobaleno, Luche (who disappeared/died from unknown causes years ago), sacrifices her life to revive the Arcobaleno, and defeat Byakuran. By the time the gang is ready to return back to their own time, the Arcobaleno are live and well.
Point in Canon: Pre-death, Post Varia Arc.
Character Personality:
Colonnello is called spartan for a reason-- his methods. His size doesn't matter here, because that tiny body still holds all the strength and skill he would have as an adult, maybe even more. He's a vicious, merciless kind of tutor that uses his loud, sharp tongue and heavy physical abuse to punish those under his training wing if they aren't trying hard enough, or are disobeying his orders. His training though... it's pretty crazy. (ex. kicking said students into pits full of venomous snakes, throwing bombs, making them walk through active land mines, whirlpools, shark infested waters, a cage match with a bear, ect. personally, students would be lucky and probably grateful to be kicked across the face and thrown feets away, or even shot rather than those!) His methods are known to be more extreme and destructive than Reborn's, who is also a tutor of the merciless variety.
But these methods of his also come with a reason-- he cares. He gives a great deal for the students he teaches. He wants them to succeed, and he wants to see them succeed. His training may be harsh and backbreaking, though students never complain when they've completed their training. In the end, it changes them and makes them even stronger, and that's what he wants to see-- success. He was once that army brat with zero potential, wasn't he? And look at him now. If he can do it, anybody can do it. Underneath that tough army shell is a heart of gold, and when he wants to, he'll show it. Not only does he care for his students, but he cares for his friends very much.
He'd do anything to keep the ones he cares for away from harm, even if it means he'd lose his life in the process. Colonnello is a very brave person, and if he had to take a bullet for a friend, he would. A perfect example of this is both Lal Mirch and Mammon. He risked his life for both of them, and in the end, it did cost him his life. Unfortunately, they always backfire on him or go wrong, one way or another. Lal Mirch was turned into an infant and received a corrupted curse which hindered her, while Mammon killed himself instead of taking the chance to escape. A reason for his many backfires is that his body tends to move before his brain can come up with a successful plan. He doesn't think things thoroughly, which results in an impulsive and reckless action, regardless of the consequences. He always wanted to be a hero... but each time things don't work out the way he wants them to. Even if he is a backfire, Colonnello still holds his head up high and glows with pride, ready to take on the next obstacle.
Even Reborn, who's his rival and he often says he hates with a passion (and is better than Reborn!)-- well, he still trusts the other and vice versa, and they always have each others backs regardless of that 'hate'. His relationship with Reborn is... tough. The two were born and raised in the same town in Italy, and for as long as they can remember, they've been bitter rivals. They're super competitive, which leads to many arguments, some over the silliest things. Arguments of course, lead to their famous headbutting, which leads to becoming trigger happy until someone gets shot, which finally escalates to fist fights if it ever gets too out of hand. Even after all of that hate, deep down, even if they never say it out loud, they're friends. They respect each other and trust each other.
Even though Colonnello maintains his strength and intelligence in a baby's body... he does share an infant's traits. The biggest example would be napping. Randomly. Wherever he is, if he feels like taking a snooze, he's on that like white on rice. Even more so when it's something he doesn't feel like listening to or someone he doesn't feel like talking to. Sometimes, he just does it. He could be right in the middle of a sentence when bam, he's asleep, and nothing but time will wake him up. The creepiest part about this is that like all Arcobaleno, Colonnello tends to sleep with his eyes open (its an assassin thing). Even his animal partner, Falco, is in sync with its master. When Colonnello naps, Falco also naps.
The biggest, most noticeable thing about Colonnello is his usage of the word 'Hey!'. He tends to stick it into the beginning and the end of his sentences constantly. Other than his signature grin and infamous spartan regimen, his 'hey!'s are what distinguishes him easily from others. If not the fact that he has a baby face.
Colonnello is over all a very nice guy, and one you want to have with you rather than against you. He likes getting attention from the ladies and doesn't mind if they want to give him a hug, tell him what a cute little baby he is, or read him a story. If you're a guy, just don't try that... for your own safety. He jokes, he grins, he can be an ass, and he can kick ass.
Character Plans: Colonnello, well-- it'll probably be tough for him to get a job at first, considering his appearance and 'age', but he will definitely be able to manage. I also really want to build CR with this little guy and get him involved with the plot. He has his (forceful) ways, and will be able to get a job one way or another... even if it'll probably get him in trouble. Once in a while, I would like him to revert to his adult form too, to spice things up. I also have a friend that is going to be applying for Lal Mirch, which I look forward to playing out the two's interactions.
Appearance/PB: His
cursed form and his
adult form.
