Got into the Bay Area around 10 pm last night and got into Maui at, uh, some time this afternoon. The combination of time difference and travel fatigue has kind of broken my internal clock.
People asked what I saw on my road trip here. Uh. I have some pictures of random hills and such. There was a lot of pretty scenery but my initial attempts at taking pictures while driving were very discouraging. I did get a good picture of the pickup truck with the "Indian Outlaw" window decal, because I'd just heard the song "Indian Outlaw" on a local country station not five minutes before I pulled up behind him. You may have to listen to that song to fully appreciate the sadness and joy of that moment, but I wouldn't actually wish that song on anyone.
Mostly what I did was get up in the morning and drive for ten or eleven hours and then sleep. I made food and gas and bathroom stops. One evening I found out I had a work project due the next morning that I'd utterly forgotten about so I went and bought a bag of chips, turned on the hotel cable and translated anime for about two and a half hours. Other than that I also called people on the phone a lot. Spending a lot of time on the road is really not so bad, but since most people look at me extra weird when I say that I think I'm going to force myself to sightsee on the way back, just so I can continue to participate in society.
