I Have Returned

The show in the middle is why I've been gone for the last three days. My adventure started when I got off work at 6am Friday and had to drive two hours to Allentown to catch my flight. My flight wasn't until 11:35 so I managed to take a brief nap before going to the airport. Things went smoothly at first. Flight into Atlanta was on time and everything was looking up. Unfortunately, while in Atlanta, a storm came rolling through and the plane that was supposed to take us to Seattle couldn't land due to low cloud coverage. Then, while it was up there circling around, it ran low on fuel and had to go to Birmingham and refuel. Once it got back, it was delayed once again because they were short a flight attendant. My flight was supposed to leave around 4:30, but instead, it left at 8:30. I got into Seattle around 10:30. Due to circumstances, I ended up having to spend my night in the airport, and let me tell you, sleeping on a bench in a cold airport is not much fun. Jessi came and picked me up around 10:30 the following morning. We visited the waterfront, strolled through a marketplace, and fed some french fries to some seagulls. She dropped me off at the venue a few hours before the show began so I walked down the street and saw Batman Begins again to kill some time. Got into the venue around 7:30, show started at 8:15. Sinking Ships was first (Aram from Champion's brother is the vocalist I believe) and they were pretty damn good. At the end of the set, some of the members of The Shook Ones came up and the members of the bands covered Lifetime's Turnpike Gates, and quite well I might add. Killing the Dream was on after them and I can easily see why people have been hyping them lately. So damn good. Plus, they covered Kid Dynamite's Heart-a-tact, which gets them extra points in my book. The Answer was up next and they were pretty good as well. Lastly, Stay Gold came on and maybe all the shit I went through to get to the show worth it. Here is the setlist, though completely out of order except for the first and last songs:

Best Kept Secret
Just Below the Surface
Never Sleep Along
On the Homefront
Ring Toss
Pills and Advice
Quiet Please
The Way It Is
Another Time Another Place
Hearts
Forgive and Regret
Black Eyes
TGIF
The Letter
Third Person

I still can't get over how great it was. Anyways, after the show, Jessi picked me up and we went back to her place to get some sleep before my flight in the morning. Unfortunately, we woke up at 5:45. My flight was at 6:10. We made it to the airport around 6:05, but unfortunately, the gates closed about half an hour before, so I had to go get my flights rerouted. I caught a flight into Cincinatti at 11:00. Once I touched down there, I got something to eat and then waited for the flight back to Allentown. Shortly before my flight, they announced that they had some sort of a problem with a weight restriction and asked if anyone would be willing to take a separate flight in exchange for $200 in travel vouchers, so I jumped at the chance. I ended up flying into Scranton at 7:50 and got there around 9:20. I got back into Allentown around 11:20. I caught some sleep and drove back home when I woke up this morning.

Despite all of the bad things that happened this weekend, I still had the time of my life, and thanks to the vouchers, I'll be able to fly back out to Seattle in October for the Trial reunion. Sweetness.
