My character Jenna is based in significant part off of two influences: the character Cara from Final Fantasy V, and the character Stella Bridger from the 2003 version of The Italian Job. Both characters are daughters/granddaughters who have lost someone dear to them, and this provides a revenge motif and motive. Both of them are key characters in the plot, as Jenna should end up being such as well. As with Cara, I plan for Jenna to 'inherit' certain skills--in Jenna's case, despite her being a more physically-oriented magic knight, the second- and third-most-powerful magic spells, Disintegration (non-elemental) and Holy (holy-elemental). I choose not to put Meteo as part of the 'inheritance' because of its status as the legendary, "forbidden", ultra-powerful spell and because I might then have one too many characters armed with it. But Disintegration can be single/split, and that becomes handy. Holy is only single-target, but it's the most powerful holy-elemental spell. Being a magic knight, she also gets to derive an elemental sword spell from Holy.

I still love the line "Why do you get to punch him and I don't?". Well, she does in the end, although it would have been more entertaining if she had thrown several more punches.
