So I finally went to MIT's IAP Charm School for the first time--and it was fun. I took "classes" in the "art of the handwritten note", dating etiquette, "how to deal with difficult people and/or difficult situations", "flirting 101", "impressive interviewing", and "small talk/attentive listening". I wanted to do more, but I got there about an hour after stuff started...oh well. However, I got myself a Doctor of Philosophy in Charm! Whee! (I actually had only 11 "credits", and policy dictates that I should have had 12, but...heh, I'm not complaining. On the other hand, someone with 14 asked to get, instead of a PhD, a Bacherlor's (6) plus a Master's (8); I found that more amusing.) That, and I was the unexpected lucky winner of a $50 gift certificate to Toscanini's--not a performance conducted by Arturo, but the ice cream shop--and I don't even know where the local Toscanini's is. (They used to have a branch at the student center but that closed up shop and is now the location of Anna's Tequieras.)
