Exercise in script-writing.

Nostalgia breeds imagination--in this case, by extrapolation.

[Meredith] ...why the hell am I here? Why am I still here? And why are you here too?
[Glenn] Well, you never chose to leave,--
[Meredith] Well it was you who told me that they'd be "persecuting" me or some other fancy big word saying that they'd be after my ass or something. How do you know they'd be?
[Glenn] ...We're at war. What do you think?
[Meredith] If you people didn't drag me into this mess in the first place, I wouldn't ever have to worry about them. See what you did? And now I'm stuck fighting this war that I really should have absolutely nothing to do with, but that I got sucked into against my will.
[Glenn] Look, I told you you could leave. You chose not to.
[Meredith] You were the one who made me feel oh-so-s***-scared by telling me they'd be after me--
[Glenn] Well, what have they been doing?
[Meredith] They wouldn't be after me if I didn't stay with you guys!
[Glenn] They would; they already saw who you were and they saw us helping you.
[Meredith] Yeah, thanks for tainting me like that.
[Glenn] ...*sigh*... [emphatically and part-sarcastically] Sorry, then.
pause
[Glenn] Would you rather I'd done something else back there? Just left you alone, and let someone else do whatever with you?
[Meredith] You could have simply called an ambulance or something. Instead of the bunch of you taking me to the hospital.
[Glenn] Well I'd say we got you to a hospital faster than an ambulance could have.
[Meredith] ...Fine.
short pause
[Meredith] On the other hand, you guys didn't hafta stay there and wait for me, now did you?
[Glenn] I'd say staying was the more responsible course of action. I was the only person there who had any idea who you were, and none of us had any idea how you ended up the way you did. The best we could do was to make sure you'd be okay and well off after that.
[Meredith] --and not because you still have some stupid high-school crush on me or something? Just why the hell are you here anyways, and why are you and I stuck in the same boat? Or do you just want me as someone else to fight for your cause in this war?
[Glenn] Now, honestly, coming into this whole conflict, I had no idea I'd run into you again. Running into you was a complete surprise for me.
[Meredith] And the bunch of you could simply have chosen to leave me be after that.
[Glenn] Look: I chose to do what I did not because you're an asset in war (as you are no doubt, but anybody would be), or because I have some silly high-school crush on you. It's because I cared. I cared about you and what might happen to you.
