movie weekend

The weekend was eh. I saw that Ultraviolet movie. I feared it would be another generic action movie with no plot or substance. especially as Milla Jojovich as the lead role (Resident Evil, resident Evil 2, The Fifth Element, Zoolander). I walked in their with the hopes lower than those of the soldiers on D-Day. \
To my amazwment the film didnt suck anywhere near as much as those Dyson Vaccuums ( they dont lose suction). I hate how special effects have taken over the film industry, but its what sells. Somehow the visual effects really helped out the movie. Seeing the Academy Awards I was sad to see that Sin City was not nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, when it clearly was one of the better ones. Along with special effects. The Best Picture took me by surprise. I was thinking Capote was going to win, but what to my wondering eye should appear, but Crash. It made me really happy to see it win, i have not seen the movie, just comes to show that talent does reign over popularity, i will take a gander at it now.
The first time i saw the poster for Vfor Vendetta I was astounded at the sheer creativity that film could offer. It had such mysterious lore to it, I was captivated, along with Hugo Weaving blowing up the Parliament Building, something Guy Fawkes failed at back in the 1800's agains the totalitarian government and was killed for it. But all these advertisements have rendered it as another generic movie, who knows maybe im wrong. Just, Remember the 5th.
