there are two things that come to mind when thinking of sungyeol: forgetfulness and lollipops. it just so happens that woohyun hates those two things the most.

for pressurise ; infinitesanta

“you have to stop forgetting your keys,” woohyun says as he slams the set of keys on the counter. he glares at sungyeol, who looks back at him with a bored expression on his face. woohyun holds back all the curses he wants to spit at his roommate, remembering he’s in a public place that’s currently filled with parents and their children.

“it’s not like i can help it.” sungyeol grabs the keys and puts them in his pocket. he doesn’t see why woohyun needs to get so worked up about it. people are forgetful. so what.

woohyun raises an eyebrow. “you can’t help it? just like you couldn’t help it the i-don’t-know-how-many times before? just put the keys in your bag and check if you have them before you leave the dorm!”

sungyeol smiles politely at the customers in the store, his hands moving in an apologetic gesture before turning back to woohyun. “you’re interrupting my work, get lost.”

“i just brought you your fu-” sungyeol looks at him pointedly and he corrects himself, “freaking keys and you just tell me to get lost.”

“sorry, you want a lollipop to show my gratitude?” sungyeol says sarcastically.

“no.”

“come on, just accept it.”

“i don’t want it.”

“stop being such a prick and accept the fucking lollipop!” sungyeol hisses.

“for god’s sake -”

“language!”

“so you can swear but i can’t? forget it. just stop losing your keys,” woohyun says before turning around and leaving the store.

it reminds sungyeol of a little kid who has just been denied his favorite candy, which is kind of ironic since they’re in a candy store. he turns to his next customer with a smile on his face. “how can i help you?”

--

“he’s a fucking moron.” woohyun plops down on the couch beside sunggyu. “the next time he asks you if i can bring his keys again, you can do it yourself.”

sunggyu smiles, patting woohyun’s legs. “he’s your roommate.”

“and he’s your friend. and, if i remember correctly, you said i should room with him because ‘he’s such a good friend and you will love having him as a roommate’, but none of that is true because he’s the shittiest roommate i've ever had. he doesn’t clean up, his clothes are everywhere, he takes forever in the shower and he always smells like candy. on top of that, he isn’t nice either. i don’t understand how you can be friends with someone like him.”

“he’s a nice guy, really. you just got off on the wrong foot.”

“more like on the wrong planet,” woohyun mutters.

“just open up to him, you’ll find out he isn’t that bad. so what if he’s a little weird? you’re friends with dongwoo, you should know how to handle weird.”

woohyun thinks comparing sungyeol to dongwoo isn’t really fair, considering dongwoo is just part of a different species and you need to handle him with care, whereas sungyeol is from a completely different planet. woohyun doesn’t think anyone else lives on that planet and sungyeol just isn’t made to communicate with other people. which just makes it even weirder that sunggyu is friends with him.

“why are you friends with him again?”

“i met him at one of myungsoo’s parties and he told me he was an acting major. he reminded me of you and i befriended him so you could have more acting buddies.”

“you do know i gave up on acting?”

sunggyu waves his hand. “you didn’t give up on it, you’re just taking a break. and that’s why you need to have a friend like sungyeol. he will help you after that break. i think.”

shaking his head, woohyun moves closer to sunggyu. “me and sungyeol being friends is never going to happen. get over it, hyung.”

“just give him a chance.”

“never.”

“woohyun…”

“not until he stops being an annoying moron.”

--

woohyun doesn’t really expect sungyeol to stop being a moron, so when he gets home to find his shared room free of any dirty clothes and underwear, he’s quite surprised. his side of the room actually looks messier than sungyeol’s, which is saying something.

“you cleaned.” it isn’t a question.

sungyeol looks up from his laptop briefly to nod, before returning his intensive typing. “hmm,” he says absentmindedly. “found the spare keys too.”

woohyun raises an eyebrow. he wasn’t aware they had spare keys. “found anything else?”

“nothing interesting.” sungyeol pauses his typing to rummage between a pile of notes at the end of his bed. “just some notes. i think some of these are yours, unless i forgot i signed up for the ancient music class.”

anger bubbles up in woohyun’s chest. he had been searching for those notes a month ago, when he had his ancient music exam. when he couldn’t find them and asked sungyeol about it, he just got a you’re a retard what would i do with your notes you probably lost them because you’re stupid like that in return. “my ancient music notes.”

“hmm.”

“i almost failed my exam because they got lost in your mess?”

sungyeol just gives him a blank look. “it’s not my fault you lost them.”

“it is. if you didn’t make such a mess of everything, nothing would get lost!”

“sheez, calm down.” sungyeol flicks his fringe out of his face. “go rant somewhere else, i need to finish this assignment before tomorrow.”

that’s it. woohyun’s fingers tingle and before he knows what he’s doing, he has already jumped on sungyeol’s bed. cries of my laptop get lost in the struggle between the two, sungyeol frantically trying to push woohyun of off him, while woohyun simply pushes sungyeol down on the bed. after a weak struggle on sungyeol’s part, the boy gives up. woohyun, noticing the younger boy isn’t fighting back, loosens the hold on sungyeol’s shirt. the smell of candy fills his nostrils and he grimaces.

--

“was it really necessary to fight?” sunggyu softly dabs at a cut on sungyeol’s face while glaring at woohyun.

“why do you take care of sungyeol and glare at me?” woohyun sucks in his bottom lip, pressing an ice bag to his face. sungyeol was a better fighter than he thought - he actually managed to land quite a few punches on his cheek and stomach. and it hurt. but everyone seemed to take sungyeol’s side.

“myungsoo can you get me -”

“no.”

“howon?”

“….”

“dongwoo, please?”

“you punched sungyeol.”

“he punched me too!”

“it’s sungyeol. that wouldn’t hurt much.”

--

“i'm not going to do it. you go do it yourself.”

“woohyun.” sunggyu grabs woohyun’s arm, stopping him. “he’s your roommate. he’s been walking around with a black eye for a week. the least you can do is bring him his keys.”

“he’s the one who has forgotten them. i'm not doing it!”

“so you want to be responsible for him getting assaulted because you were too stubborn to bring him his keys?”

“assaulted. the worst thing that can happen is daeryong humping him in the hallway, which would solve the problem since they can just go back to daeryong’s room. no keys to our room needed.”

sunggyu pinches his nose. “i'm not sure i want to know, but… daeryong?”

“he tends to hump people in the hallway when he’s drunk. don’t ask me, i have never experienced it myself. fortunately.”

“i will simply ignore this piece of information.” sunggyu shakes his head. “anyway. go bring sungyeol his keys, i don’t want him to get locked out. or get humped by daeryong.”

“no.”

“yes.”

--

woohyun hates how he’s always convinced by sunggyu in the end. he kicks a random stone that’s laying on the street, wincing when he hears it hitting a car. he quickens his steps and only slows down when he has turned the corner. seeing the familiar colors of the candy store, he takes a deep breath of fresh air.

he opens the door and the sweetness hits him square in the face. his nose scrunches up and he forces himself to stay inside, rather than turning around like he wants to. he starts muttering about stupid roommates and evil friends, when he catches sight of sungyeol behind the counter. a mean comment is already making its way out of his mouth, when he sees what’s going on.

sungyeol is just opening his mouth, tongue darting out to taste the lollipop in his hand. he hums in approval and then puts the thing in his mouth, making a loud sucking sound, and woohyun can see the contour of the candy in his right cheek. then sungyeol pops it out again, sweeping his tongue over the top in the most obscene way ever and woohyun feels something stirring in his stomach.

the soft call of sungyeol, customer stops sungyeol’s actions and woohyun briefly wonders if the boy does this on a frequent basis, because his boss doesn’t even blink an eye at the sight of seeing sungyeol doing…whatever it is he’s doing.

woohyun ignores everything he’s feeling and walks towards the counter. sungyeol just looks at him expectantly, his tongue sweeping over sticky lips, lollipop dangling in his hands.

“what do you want?”

swallowing his first thought of you, woohyun thinks of a reply. why was he here again? “ah, keys.” he fishes the keys out of his pocket and puts them on the counter.

sungyeol grunts out a thanks (or at least, woohyun thinks it’s thanks, but he doesn’t really know because he can’t focus on anything else but sungyeol’s lips) and raises an eyebrow. “anything else?”

it takes a while for the words to progress into woohyun’s head, but when they do he flushes in embarrassment. he shakes his head, muttering no, before quickly turning around and walking out of the store in a daze.

--

“have you ever visited sungyeol at work?”

sunggyu takes a sip of his coffee. “once or twice. most of the time we meet up after work. i wonder why i never step by the store though, i love candy. it’s not like you infected me with your anti-candy virus.”

“anti-candy virus. really.” woohyun frowns.

“yes, i'm sure it’s very contagious to some. anyway, why do you want to know?”

woohyun plays with the straw of his drink. “have you ever seen him acting weird?”

“is this about you thinking sungyeol is weird? because do i need to remind you once again that dongwoo is so much weirder? you promised you would give him a chan-”

“no, this isn’t about sungyeol being weird. it’s just…” woohyun sighs. how was he supposed to tell sunggyu what he had seen at the store? maybe he was overreacting, his mind going crazy imagining all these things because he hasn’t got laid in ages. that must be it. “never mind.”

sunggyu squints at him. “you brought it up and now i'm curious. tell me.”

“it’s nothing.”

“tell me.”

woohyun groans. “he was sucking a lollipop.”

“that’s all?” sunggyu blinks. “and you think that’s weird. why?”

“he was being all obscene about it. in the middle of the store,” woohyun whines. “it was weird.”

“people suck on lollipops every day, it’s not something weird. you’re overreacting.”

“i’m not overreacting!”

sunggyu rolls his eyes and stares at his friend. “really, i think you are the weird one. what is so bad about seeing someone eating a lollipop? you need to suck it to finish it, that’s just the way lollipops work. there’s nothing weird about that. get over yourself.”

--

“oh my god.”

“i told you so,” woohyun says smugly. then he suddenly moves aside, motioning at sunggyu to do the same. “get down, he might see you!”

sunggyu ducks and peeks through the window, shaking his head to get rid of the image he just saw. “how on earth does he make it so…so…so obscene?”

“because he’s weird.”

“i wouldn’t call him weird.” sunggyu tilts his head and looks at woohyun. “he’s probably not even aware of what he’s doing.”

woohyun sighs and turns around, sliding down the wall to sit on the ground. “oh, he knows what he’s doing alright. he probably tried it out on all candy: how can i eat candy in the most obscene way ever?”

“really.” sunggyu snorts and squats down beside woohyun.

“yes. or like ‘how can i seduce my customers with a lollipop’?”

opening his mouth to say something, sunggyu suddenly starts slapping woohyun’s leg, pointing between woohyun and the window.

“what?”

sunggyu grins and claps his hands excitedly. “you like him.”

woohyun just raises an eyebrow.

“you totally do! whereas i'm totally grossed out by what sungyeol’s doing, you think he’s trying to seduce people. but the only one who sees it that way is you. which means you liked what he was doing, so you like him.”

“i don’t like him.”

“you do.”

--

“what is this?” woohyun is forced to stop halfway into the room, the candy covering the floor preventing him from setting another step. the sickeningly sweet smell of candy makes him scrunch his nose and he carefully pokes a bag of candy with his foot.

“please tell me you did not just touch that bag with your sweaty, stinking foot.”

woohyun just pushes the bag away from him so he can walk over to his side of the room. “please tell me you did not cover our entire shared room with candy.”

“good to know you can still see properly, for a moment i was worried your lack of a brain affected that too.”

“lack of a brain would mean i wouldn’t be able to exist, but of course you don’t know that with that small brain of yours.”

sungyeol rolls his eyes and opens the bag of candy on his lap. “if you have nothing useful to say, just shut up or get lost.”

sitting down on his bed, woohyun ignores his roommate in favor of his laptop. he is just about to make a mean comment when a soft ‘pop’ gets his attention. as he looks up, he sees sungyeol licking his lips, lollipop in his hands. woohyun gulps and quickly averts his gaze. this is not happening, he thinks.

even though he really doesn’t want to watch - the comment sunggyu made about him liking sungyeol still in the back of his mind - he can’t help but sneak a glance or two. no matter what sunggyu said about only him seeing this as seducing, woohyun is sure sungyeol is perfectly aware of what he’s doing. no sane person would lick a lollipop like that - tongue lapping at the candy like his life depends on it, sucking on it like it’s-

“you want one?” sungyeol holds out the bag of candy. “you can only have one though, i'm making a castle with candy for sungjong’s birthday.”

woohyun coughs and shakes his head, looking down at his computer screen. “no.”

“are you sure? you were looking at me like you wanted one.”

oh, he wanted something alright. it just wasn’t the candy. woohyun fiercely shakes his head, demanding himself not to think anything like that. “i'm sure.”

--

“-and he was looking at me like i just ate the last cookie. seriously i don’t know what’s wrong with him.” sungyeol gulps down his beer as he glares at woohyun, who’s standing on the other side of the room. he isn’t sure why his roommate is even here, last time he checked sungjong and woohyun weren’t friends.

“the guy is just weird,” myungsoo says while rolling his eyes. “maybe it has something to do with the fact that he doesn’t like candy? i heard he broke up with his girlfriend because she used this candy lip-gloss.”

sungyeol snorts. “now you’re just making things up.”

“maybe.” myungsoo laughs when sungyeol shoves him. “okay, that last part was just a blown-out-of-proportions rumor. but he really doesn’t like candy though.”

“great. so i’m working in a candy store and my roommate doesn’t like candy. no wonder he hates me.”

“he doesn’t hate you.” sunggyu wraps an arm around sungyeol’s shoulder, which is kind of awkward considering sungyeol is taller than him and leans closer. “in fact, it’s the opposite.”

“you’re drunk, hyung.”

“no, no!” sunggyu hiccups. “okay, maybe a little. but woohyun doesn’t hate you. oh, are those steamed buns?”

myungsoo and sungyeol share a look as sunggyu follows the platter with food. myungsoo shrugs and downs his beer. “well, sunggyu is woohyun’s best friend, he could be right.”

sungyeol just sighs and looks around the room. “let’s go find the birthday boy. i want to show him my candy castle.”

--

woohyun thinks the candy castle is fucking ridiculous. even if sungjong is the youngest and reminds them of a little kid sometimes, the boy is nineteen and therefore definitely not a little kid.

“so what,” dongwoo says when woohyun voices his thoughts. “as students we have a low budget and sungyeol was lucky enough to get some candy for free. his gift is pretty amazing.”

“it's a candy castle. something you would give to a five year old.”

“don't spoil it.” dongwoo pokes his friend and offers him another beer. “your dislike for candy can't ruin sungjong's birthday, okay?”

woohyun just grumbles and drinks his beer.

--

“god, he’s going to kill me,” sungyeol says as he drops to the floor. the contents of his pockets are all over couch in front of him - empty candy wrappers along with a random lollipop and some coins. but no keys. “i'm fucking dead after this.”

“don’t be such a drama queen.”

sungyeol glares at howon. “do you know how many times i forgot my keys? do you know how many times i had to face woohyun’s wrath? do you know how angry he will be when he finds out i forgot my keys, again?”

“if it was really that bad, he would have kicked you out of your room already. but you’re still roommates and he’s still talking to you, sort of.” howon grabs a toffee out and takes the wrapper off. “to be honest, i have a feeling sunggyu is right. woohyun definitely doesn’t hate you.”

“seriously? we ignore all of sunggyu's commentary, but not this? why is he even going around saying stuff like that? i get that he was the one who introduced woohyun and me, but he doesn't see how woohyun acts around me. he practically ignores me whenever we're in the same room - we only spend time together when we're hanging out with other people. we don't get along, that's it. and after tonight, woohyun will probably hate me even more.”

howon just snickers, wiping sungyeol's stuff out of the way so he can plop down on the couch. “just wait until he goes home then, you can leave together.”

“i guess i could do that. he won't suspect anything, which means i won't get killed.”

“eh, sungyeol? i think woohyun is leaving.”

sungyeol swivels around and sees woohyun saying goodbye to sunggyu and sungjong, before walking out of the door. “god why is he such a wimp? couldn't he just stay for another hour or so? tell myungsoo i left early!”

he quickly runs to the kitchen to grab his jacket, then runs out of the door in search of woohyun. when he finally spots his roommate, he isn't sure what to do. it would be weird to call for him and suggest to walk home together - they're not friendly enough to do that. but if he doesn't, he is in danger of getting locked out again. and he really doesn't want to risk that, especially not when he saw the majority of the party people downing one beer after another. people do crazy things when they’re drunk.

eventually he decides to just follow woohyun closely, just a couple of meters behind him. just close enough not to get locked out, but far enough not to get caught. sungyeol curses as woohyun runs to the other side of the road, barely making the green light, meaning he will have to wait.

after the light finally turns green, sungyeol sprints to the other side hoping that woohyun hasn't made it too far. he sighs in relief as he sees the familiar leather jacket. slowing down, he fumbles in his pockets in search of his lollipop. he deserves a reward for being so brilliant.

--

woohyun tenses as he hears the footsteps again. he thought he shook them off at the crosswalk, but apparently his stalker knows his way around here too. a horrible thought creeps into his head and he starts breathing heavily. for all he knows it could be...

he quickens his step and opens the door of the dorm, hastily making his way over to his room, all the while hoping he's faster than his stalker. he hears the footsteps coming nearer and he breaks out into a run, quickly dashing left instead of the supposed right. hiding behind a random cabinet, he makes a note to thank the owner of it tomorrow if it keeps him safe.

the sound of footsteps coming closer stop and woohyun holds his breath. please don't let it be him, please don't let it be him, please don't let it be-

“what are you doing here?”

woohyun will never admit that he just let out the most girly squeak ever. “oh my god, sungyeol. what are you- why are you - just. oh my god.” his legs feel like jelly and he slides to the floor, clasping his chest as he gasps for air.

“are you alright?”

“i'm fine. wait, no. what the fuck. why are you following me?”

sungyeol smiles sheepishly, shrugging his shoulders. “just wanted to make sure my roommate got home safe?”

“because almost giving him a heart attack totally fits into that category. of course.”

“why would i give you...” sungyeol tilts his head in confusion. a look of understanding crossing his face and woohyun starts scowling. “you thought i was stalking you, weren't you? who knew nam woohyun would be such a scaredy cat.”

“i wasn't scared!” woohyun rolls his eyes at sungyeol's pointed look, “okay, so maybe i was a little. can you blame me though? i thought some stranger was following me and even when i shook him off, he would find me again. you know the rumors, i thought it might be...”

“oh god.” sungyeol gets wide-eyed and eyes the hallway warily. “i totally forgot about that. thank god i could follow you home, otherwise i might get locked out and bump into him.”

woohyun nods and then it dawns on him. “what do you mean, locked out?” as sungyeol quickly averts his gaze, he stands up. “please tell me you didn't lose your keys. again.”

it's then that woohyun notices the lollipop in sungyeol's mouth, the contour of the candy in his right cheek, lips slightly parted, probably all moist and sticky. if he was sober, he would have averted his gaze and pretended nothing was wrong. but he blames it on the alcohol that he's licking his lips, blatantly staring at his roommate's lips.

“what?”

woohyun shakes his head to get out of the trance, but he still doesn't get any words out. “you...”

“me...?” sungyeol takes the lollipop out of his mouth and groans. “please tell me you're not giving me that look because you want a lollipop too. i have some left in my bag, so if you would just go to our room i could get you one.”

“i don't want it.”

sungyeol stops walking and looks at woohyun. “if your roommate offers you a lollipop, you should just gratefully accept it.”

“i don't even like candy.” woohyun moves past sungyeol and walks to their room.

“oh really. then explain those looks you keep giving me.”

woohyun stays silent and grabs the keys out of his pocket.

“really. now you have nothing to say.”

what was there to say? he could hardly say it's your mouth i'm looking at, woohyun thinks. he puts the key in the lock and opens the door. “the way you eat is disgusting, that's all.”

“geez, thanks.” sungyeol pops the lollipop out of his mouth. “just look the other way if i'm bothering you so much.”

woohyun can only stare as sungyeol's tongue darts out lapping at the candy, then sucked into his mouth, bobbing in and out. he feels himself heating up at the mental images and after one particularly hard suck he lets out a groan, which makes sungyeol glare at him.

“god it's not that...it's just-” woohyun stammers, scratching his head. sungyeol rolls his eyes and attempts to shove past and that's when he snaps. he pushes sungyeol against the door, grabbing the stick of the lollipop and pulling it out of sungyeol's mouth.

before he can think about what he's doing, he has already leaned in and pressed his lips against sungyeol's. his tongue darts out and he groans when sungyeol's tongue meets his halfway. he can taste the sweetness of the lollipop on his tongue, mixed with the taste of beer and well, sungyeol.

as woohyun pulls away he smacks his lips, finding they're awfully sticky. sungyeol looks at him in a daze and he lets out an hysterical laugh as he realizes what he just did. his laughter seems to shake sungyeol out of his dazed state and woohyun is surprised to find himself getting pushed against the wall.

just when woohyun thinks things might be getting a little out of hand - because seriously, he was convinced he disliked sungyeol just an hour ago, but here he was anticipating sungyeol’s next move- they are interrupted by a loud scream nearby. sungyeol pulls back wide-eyed.

“what was that?”

woohyun wants to roll his eyes, because how was he supposed to know? he pokes his head out of the room instead and looks left and right. “i'm not seeing anything here....”

there's another scream and something that sounds oddly like a deep groan, which makes sungyeol take a step outside the room. “seriously, what the hell?” he walks towards the main hall and then promptly turns around, motioning for woohyun to join him.

“what is it?” woohyun says in annoyance, but he already gets his answer when he looks around the corner. “is that....with...”

“i think so...”

--

“are we going to talk about what happened?” they're in their room again, awkwardly sitting next to each other. after they witnessed that in the hallway, they had quickly made their way back, discussing the who's and what's as a way to ignore what happened between them earlier. that was, until sungyeol brought it up again.

“i guess,” woohyun says, playing with his fingers. “we could just ignore it though, that's alright.”

“no.” sungyeol stands up and turns around so he faces woohyun. “you cannot just kiss me out of the blue and then go straight back to hating me.”

“i don't hate you.” sungyeol guffaws and woohyun snorts. “okay, so you're not my favorite person out there. but you haven't exactly done anything to make me like you: you're the worst roommate ever, you sing in the shower, you forget your keys all the time and you aren't nice either.”

sungyeol opens his mouth to say something, but eventually he just scowls. “you still kissed me,” he mutters eventually. woohyun mumbles something under his breath, making sungyeol lean closer. “what?”

“it's your own fault.”

“what...okay. why is it my fault?”

“because you kept seducing me with your lollipops.” after he has said it, woohyun feels even more embarrassed. he groans and falls back on the bed, arm covering his eyes.

it starts with an awkward cough. followed by a snort. followed by full-blown laughter. woohyun doesn't even need to look up to know sungyeol is doubled over, laughing at him and his stupidity. what he doesn't expect is the bed dipping on both sides of him and sungyeol basically sitting on his lap.

“and here i was, thinking no one noticed my attempts at seduction. i even told sungjong i was giving up on them. there were no cute customers in the shop anyway. and even if they were, they would just look at me weirdly. i must have kept doing it subconsciously though. and you, nam woohyun, were totally seduced by me.”

woohyun peeks from underneath his eye and blinks rapidly, processing sungyeol's words. “so you did it on purpose.”

“well no, i obviously didn't mean to seduce you.”

“yeah. okay.”

sungyeol leans back on woohyun's leg, grinning brightly. “i can't believe it actually worked.”

woohyun coughs, feeling that this position was getting more awkward by the second.

“it's funny that the guy who doesn't like candy is seduced by me sucking a lollipop.”

“yes, what an accomplishment. could you-”

“i wonder if it actually did work on more people? they could just be pretending nothing ever happened of course. i mean, you didn't act like i seduced you, so who knows.”

“could you get off-”

“i might have done it in class too! maybe that's why eunhee was looking at me weirdly last week? myungsoo said it was because i had toothpaste on my face, but after this i don't think it is. she totally likes me, i'm sure of it. and what about teacher jang? he was looking at me too, did you know he-”

sungyeol just keeps on babbling excitedly and woohyun rolls his eyes. he heard about this side of his roommate, but of course he’s never experienced it before. from what he has heard, this could go on for hours, as a monologue or as a fake-dialogue where the other party just had to acknowledge him once in a while. and in this position, that really can't be comfortable.

after a minute or two, and having discussed at least half of sungyeol's drama class, woohyun sits up suddenly. he comes face to face with sungyeol, their noses almost bumping, sungyeol grabbing his shoulders in an attempt to keep from falling and oh, he didn't see this coming.

sungyeol stops mid-rant and lets out a shaky breath. “hi.”

“hi.”

“sorry for seducing you.”

“'s okay.”

they both lean in at the same and they're back in the same position again, except this time they're making out shirtless. so much for talking about what happened.

-

“why do you hate candy anyway?”

“if you’re waiting to hear some deep and mysterious reason, i'm sorry to disappoint you. i just don’t like it, never did. the sugary sweetness, the stickiness, the way it clings to your teeth - it doesn’t appeal to me at all.”

“but you do like sweet things. soda, fruit, pie…”

“that’s different. it’s…just sweet. not the stickiness.”

sungyeol turns around. “so what you’re saying is, in the end it all comes down to your dislike for stickiness.”

“hmm, i guess.”

“well. i beg to differ. because earlier you defin-”

woohyun rolls over so he’s on top of sungyeol. “shut up.”

--

[

“did you guys hear what happened to sunggyu hyung last night?” sungjong asks as soon as woohyun and sungyeol sit down at the table. he looks at them wide-eyed, waving his chopsticks around dangerously. “wait no. why are you two coming to get breakfast together?”

leaning back to avoid the chopsticks, sungyeol shakes his head. “all i know is that he was beyond wasted five minutes into the party. and can't i have breakfast with my roommate?”

sungjong eyes them suspiciously then grins. “you totally worked out your differences, didn't you?” his grin gets even wider as both boys ignore him. “don't worry, your secret is safe with me. i want all the details though...”

“weren't you about to say something about sunggyu hyung?” woohyun coughs, desperately trying to change the subject.

“don't think this conversation is over. but yes, sunggyu hyung. what you know is nothing compared to what i know.” the younger boy motions for them to move closer. “the hallway in your block? that hallway?”

the boys nod.

“well, apparently hyung was looking for you, woohyun, and he was near your room when he heard some suspicious noises. he had to go through that hallway, but he was too scared. so he called howon, saying he thought there might be a burglar or something. guess what happened?”

woohyun almost chokes on his rice. “what?”

“he said he was going to turn the corner when he suddenly let out a scream. howon tried to get him to talk, but he didn’t answer. all we heard were some groans, as if he was beaten up or something.” sungjong’s voice drops to a whisper. “we went to find him, but we only found his phone laying on the floor and….his shirt at the end of the hallway.”

woohyun risks looking at sungyeol and he sees the boy has problems keeping a straight face too. he quickly looks back at his plate. “any idea what happened?”

“considering he was drunk, anything might have happened. we can’t reach him and no one has seen him yet, so we don’t know wha- HYUNG!”

sungyeol and woohyun turn around to see a dazed sunggyu walking into the cafeteria, hair a mess, wearing an oversized shirt and ripped jeans that are definitely not his and to top it off, he’s not wearing any shoes. woohyun hears sungyeol snorting and he feels a laughing fit coming up.

“oh my god,” sungyeol whispers. “this means something happened, right?”

they both burst out laughing, catching sunggyu’s attention. he walks over to their table, where sungjong immediately fusses over him.

“are you alright, hyung? ignore them, they’re just stupid. where have you been? we’ve been so worried about you. hyung? sunggyu hyung?”

sunggyu looks up, blank look in his eyes. he mutters something and sungjong leans in to try and hear it. “what? you got humped? what are you talking about? ”

“good morning guys. hey sunggyu. you left your shoes in my room.”

woohyun and sungyeol double over in laughter, sunggyu flushes red and sungjong looks between the three of them and the person walking away. “why would your shoes be in daeryong's room?”
