30 gal fishtanks and dead skin cells

so for some reason I've been spending most of my evening lookingup stuff about fish and aquariums. Me and Cathie recently received a good chunk of glass, a 30 gallon aquarium and so we're gonna make the move from an old 10 gallon with 4 goldfish and a pleco, way way way too small for these and put them in soemthign that is still too small but at least a little roomier. Apparently, you need at least 10 gallons for 1 goldfish. Man, I really regret picking up 4 goldfish. I really want to get some other cool fish but this won't happen until we have the space to buy another large tank or at least half of the goldfish die off (hmmm......). The pleco is another problem - while it is relatively small now, it will eventually grow to 2 feet in length (!!!) now how inthe hell are we gonna have that work out. It's going to end up aggressive and miserable. I might try to convince Cathie that we find homes for half of the fish we have and just keep two goldies and maybe add some lighter stuff (danios or maybe a cichlid) to keep things diverse and interesting. Plus, goldfish are just so damn wasteful. They crap a lot and frankly, I don't find them all that fascinating to watch. Oh well, maybe if we get a house or some sort of property where it doesn't get very cold, we can set up a pond area and just move the goldfish there. That would be very nice, I would love to have some goldfish then, at least they'd be happy.
