[the camera is set up so Ariadne is seen quite easily, looking casually at it with a faint smile that suggests she wants something.]I'm looking for some people who're interested in helping me out. People who are interested in dreams, in Somarium, or who know something they might want to share ( Read more... )

And what is your plan to figure this place out?

[sherlock's interest is piqued. It's something he's been trying to do for a while.]

[yes. Someone with skills.]

I have a room full of notes. We want to find out what we can about the dream gates in order to repair them, if we can. If not, anything we can do to eventually plan for everything it throws at us.

Twice, around the same time during the year, this place has made people believe they've lived their entire lives here. Just last month, no new arrivals came, and we were also finally taught about the dreamwalking. We're slowly piecing things together to remove the coincidence from it and replace it with facts.

Do you know anything about it?

[he switches to video, his interest staying piqued. He wanted to get as much information as he could and it seemed that she had some that could obviously be of some use.]

What I have done is a few deductions plus the information that this place has been able to provide us, but due to their clearly obvious intentions of giving as little information as possible, it has not been much.

But more information is always needed. Connecting the dots is of utmost importance to finding this place.

[versus her usual blank expression, she actually begins to look slightly excited - a rising of her eyebrows a fraction of a centimetre, a slight upward curve to her mouth.]

It's the same as what we've found then. We have detailed notes on everything I've learned from the other inhabitants - not the locals, but the foreigners like us - as well as maps, observations...anything.

They're hiding too much for any real information to be out there, but it might be possible to get into their computers, or to at least ask the right questions without being obvious. But that assumes that we'll be given another chance to speak to the techs. Without them, we just have to know where to look, and where to start.

I've tried the tunnels beneath the city, but we didn't get far enough to learn anything. I've heard there's more down there than meets the eye, though.

If we were talking about our normal crowd of people who are composed of idiots, I would say that the chances of being able to get into the systems with ease. But they're quite protective of the information they keep from us. It will take a longer time than usual.

[a pause]

Whatever they are keeping from us will most likely be something dangerous, something that if they had told us from the beginning, it would have cause a negative reaction throughout us foreigners.

Either way, whatever we find will be interesting to find. It'll be better than sitting and doing nothing.

And if they had told us from the beginning, the entire situation with Nitiri wouldn't have happened. They keep withholding information, and not realising that they're going to get us all killed.

We need to find someone with enough tech skills to be able to get in past anything, no matter how protective they are. If this continues, there will be a negative reaction, and it'll probably be from the mass deaths of the foreigners.

But you see, if they had told us from the beginning the outrage would have been spectacular. People wouldn't act rationally, which they almost never do. They had to make sure that we were settled in, that people could have at least a shred of trust so that whatever happens, they'll have more supporters than if they told us at the very beginning.

[a breath, and he continues.]

Of course, the negative reaction will always occur, but now that some people have moronically started to consider this place as a home and have gotten accustomed to it, they'll most likely blindly join in, unaware of whatever danger may come.

But new people are coming in at any time - every month, scattered throughout the earlier days and tapering off. Last month was the only exception seen in a long while, if not ever. Those who remain for more than a few months may consider it a home, but they might be snatched away at any moment. There's no saying when any given person might disappear from this place. Which means that even if there are some who blindly follow, there are just as many people who will riot.

Either way, before we spiral down into a useless argument, what we agree on is the fact that they are hiding things from us. Things that would clear many of the things that aren't known about this place.

Breaking into the networks is highly difficult, but plausible, and so is searching underground. It may also be dangerous. But that's what makes it interesting.

And that why I've already set up an expedition back into the tunnels. So we can find out if they're really intent on keeping things from us, or if it's plausible for us to even get in.

But what stopped you the first time? You said that you didn't get far enough, so what made you turn back? Or did you simply give up? How far did you go?

We ended up going around in circles; we have a map now, and know exactly how to get to our destination, and what won't steal the entire day's time.

Good. Then something may just possibly come out of this. How many people do you have?

Three right now. I don't want to take too many people down, because that's just more to keep an eye on. We'll fill everyone in on what we find once we know what it means. I can call you personally, if you like.

Of course. And I'll be easier to find through a text message. We shall be talking in the future I suppose.

Now, what's your name?

Without a doubt, I think.

Ariadne. Pleased to meet you.
