Ariadne's jeans, worn and wrinkled, her feet bare. And, of course, Arthur's immaculately-tailored suit pants, his feet in expensive shoes. They're clearly relaxed, just hanging out.]

Well, I think it's intended as a compliment -
Female artists never get 'muses'. Have you ever heard of Agnès Varda having a muse?
They're probably just more discrete.
Because men are allowed to objectify women and call it artistic inspiration.
But is it really objectification so much as an artistic tribute to another person?
When in a few years most of them have moved on to the next one, and they're pretty much interchangeable?
I wouldn't call Ana Karina -
[Arthur breaks off with a sudden cry of pain, and viewers might get a glimpse of him doubling over, clutching his head.]
