Rambling and nonsense
It's Monday and cold and I don't feel like working, so let's babble on LJ a bit :P
I haven't messed with my grungy Bond poster anymore. I'm going to try adding some brownish-yellowy tint to it as some folks suggested. I've been working on some other projects though and haven't gotten around to it yet. Last night I decided to fiddle with some denim skirts I started ages ago. One is on HP's swishy skirt with boots mesh and another is on a Parsimonious skirt mesh, both using the texture from the long AF denim skirt that came with OFB. I'm still not terribly happy with the HP one, but the Parsim one is looking okay. Then I did another on that mesh with a different denim texture (a darker one from a pair of H&M jeans) and some brown boots. I'm not sure I like the shape of the mesh, it sort of flips out at the hem (it's second from the right in the third row, if you're interested), but I am very pleased with the second skirt (boots still need some work). I'll probably release one or both of them soonish. I'll try to get some pics later to post here too. I do wish I could get the HP one looking better, but the waist looks odd, it needs to curve up but I can't get the waistband texture curved without it looking like shite :P Maybe that's why there aren't tons of recolors of that mesh! Must be the way it's mapped, it doesn't look right with a straight-across waistband (at least mine didn't). Maybe I'll cheat and make it all a solid piece of denim with no zipper or button or waistband, hah.
I finally finished the hay-UGE lot I'm working on for the next asp set. I still have to test it thought, that'll take forever :P I'm still disappointed that it appears you can't have an elevator within an apartment, lol. Aww darn lol. Speaking of the WNF, if you've been wondering why the sites are all down, the WNF is moving to a (cheaper!) server. I'm guessing there were some issues since they're not back up yet. Hopefully it'll be back up soon. Wicked Sims has been down since before the start of the server move, for a redesign...your guess is as good as mine as to when it will back up.
Hmm what else am I doing Sims-wise. Finished one set for my story and the two Sims who will be in it. Did some decorating for another one, still need to finish that. Still lots of other tidbits on my story to-do list left. Remodelled other people's houses because that's sometimes more fun/less work than building my own lol. Plus I like to know I can just plop a lot down and like how it's done, instead of moving some Sims in and find out I hate the whole lot or it's unfurnished and they're too broke to buy furniture, etc. So I go in and at least check out every lot I download :P I still haven't started my Secret Santa gift(s) yet :O
Non-Sims-wise, I'm glad to finally be over the creeping crud nasty cold I got a week or so ago. Ugh. It's a short week, yay. (Thanksgiving.) I don't know if I technically get Friday off but I'm takin' it. I won't get paid for it but, whatever. I need a four-day weekend, oh yes. I'm so so cold and yes I know it's not cold here compared to many other places but I am cold :P I dug out my Docs the other day and have been wearing them, they make me happy. I'd like to have some Docs Gibsons, I wish they weren't all leather and so darn expensive. Maybe I'll troll eBay for some used ones again. Found a nice pair of brown ones that way a few years ago.
Been reading a lot, read Neil Gaiman's Coraline in an hour and a half Friday night. Wow, loved it, am SO going to see the movie when it comes out. Started Something Wicked This Way Comes yesterday, yes amazingly I've never read it. I'm a little over halfway through it now, going to try to finish it up the next couple of days. Not as good as I expected, I guess, but entertaining thus far. I was on a Connie Willis kick before that, Lincoln's Dreams made me cry. God she's such a good writer, most of her stuff is very funny but she can wring your heart out too. I have a boatload more books coming in the mail, woo. Found a great used book site with good prices the other day and found some bargains. After the Bradbury I'm thinking I'll read the Neverwhere graphic novel (already read some of it). God I'm obsessed with that book, I have it in every format it's been released it, just about (I think I swapped the original US edition that I first read and I don't have the series/miniseries/whatever it was). I've been fiddling around with GoodReads today, anyone else on there? I'm here: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/182198 I added a widget to my journal here today but I don't like the way it formats. I can't get it formatted any better though. Too bad the spiffy Flash one doesn't work on LJ. I need to make my own CSS for here/Inksome. Another project for the long weekend, perhaps.
