First week (and a half)

Well, the "official" training for Boston began on December 1st, and I'm getting used to the idea of running 6 days a week again.  The hardest part so far hasn't been the running - its been remembering things that I haven't had to worry about for a while (pack a recovery drink in my running bag instead of my lunch - bring a towel to put on the car seat after the workout -remember *something* to carry the map in -, left, right, then left AGAIN).  Slowly, all these things will become a habit again.  Chances are high that I will have to forget them a few more times before they sink in.

I am excited about the training group.  There's a few familiar faces from last year - Alex, Alicia, Chad, Beth, and Shelley.  And I've made a few new friends as well - Michael, Jordan (don't get too excited - that's two people, not one), and Matt.

And even though its only been a short time, I can tell that coach John is going to be a good fit for me.   Not only is he very knowledgeable, he's interested in interacting with us on an individual level, and tweaking his general training guidelines to meet our needs.  Perhaps most importantly, he's just really damn funny (at least according to my warped sense of humor).  "I would strongly suggest that you guys take it easy for the first few weeks.   Oh, and here's something you should know about me - I will never tell you what to do.  But when I start a sentence with a phrase like 'I would strongly suggest' or 'I would highly recommend', then whatever I say next... do that."

Yes, I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
