Last night Jason and I got back from our totally fun road trip down to San Diego and LA. We both took off the Thursday and Friday after the 4th of July and made the 7 hour trip Tuesday after getting off work so we didn't have to worry about crazy crowds and parking on the 4th. We stayed with Susan who lives right on the beach, where some crazy partying was going on for the 4th. Quite good times.
So Wednesday we hung out with Susan and her friends and went to the beach and grilled and watched the fireworks at night. Thursday we spent the day at Sea World, awesome! We got to see a bunch of cool shows and stroll around the park holding hands and look at penguins and sharks and polar bears and seals, etc... Then on Friday we got up early to cook our Puerco Pibil (slow roasted pork) for Susan and then picked her up at work and went to the beach nearby for a lunch picnic, yay! Right after lunch Jason and I said bye to Susan and headed up to Legoland!! Haha, it's definitely aimed at little kids but it's so cool! Miniland USA is just amazing. SOOO much detail in lego models of cities around the country. I was particularly amused by the detail they put into the little scenes the lego-people were involved in. Lots of kissing couples and bootilicious girls, hehe. But yeah, Legoland = awesome and I don't care if Jason and I were the only adults there without small children... big kids miss out on all the fun if you care about stuff like that!
Friday after Legoland we headed to a swanky hotel in LA. COMFY bed, yay! Then Saturday we walked around Hollywood for touristy things. Chinese theater, hollywood walk of fame, sunset blvd, and Rodeo drive, cool cool. I was sad because the Harry Potter premier was happening the very next day and we were missing it... but I know it's pretty much impossible that we would have been able to see any celebrities through the crowd at the premier. Oh well. Saturday night we had one last night in the super comfy bed and then made the trip back home.
Haha, then we just couldn't let our vacation actually end so we went and saw Transformers Sunday night after we got back. Such good cheesiness. Road trip success was ours!
too bad now it looks like my car needs to go into the shop. Grrr... I TRIED to get it into the shop for just a standard check-up while we were away and I wouldn't need it but the dealership never got back to me on my appointment request. Now the check engine light just turned on and it's started to run hot and I don't have car rental coverage so I'm going to need to pay full price to rent a car while it gets fixed for who knows how much. oh well. That's what a paying job is for I guess.
