Chapter Forty-nine:
Laura was beginning to appreciate their larger bed. The first night, she found herself resenting the spaciousness. It was as though Bill was saying he didn’t want to snuggle with her anymore by having the bed installed.

But for nights like tonight, its size was perfect. Bill was stretched out, his head cradled on the pillows so he could watch. Laura crouched beside him, slowly sliding her mouth up and down his erection.

Their clothes lay scattered from rack to the open space by the desk where they’d been dancing. Music still played in the background, providing Laura with a slow, seduction rhythm for her ministrations, one hand rolling his balls, the other guiding his cock into her mouth.

But Bill wasn’t just lying back and enjoying the show. He kept petting her, his hand lightly squeezing her hamstrings, cupping her ass cheeks, reaching between her legs to gently stroke her labia. Not enough to arouse her, but enough to drive her crazy.

“Pretty pussy,” he cooed.

She slurped free, giving his cock’s head one more tonguing before shooting him a dirty look over her shoulder. “Do you mind not talking to my genitals like that?”

He ran his thumb in the crack between her thigh and cheek. “Your pussy is pretty.”

She shifted way from his touch and view and propped her head on her hand. “That makes me self-conscious.”

He swept her hair away from her face. “No one's ever told you that before?” Denied his real target, he ran his thumb along her lower lip.

She shrugged and began rubbing his flat nipple. “To begin with, no one's stared at it so much,” she said, still feeling self-conscious.

“Well, it is pretty,” he said and grasped her thigh, tugging her back into his reach.

Laura decided to be a good sport. “Thank you...would you like me to tell you that your cock is pretty?”

“Hell no!” He chuckled. Cradling his cock, he smiled down at it. “It’s ruggedly handsome.”

She fell over onto her back and rolled her eyes. Men and their penises. She wouldn’t be caught dead putting a mirror between her legs to smirk like Bill was right now as he absent-mindedly twisted his fist around his cock.

His rich voice interrupted her wandering thoughts. “I spent sixteen years thinking about your pussy, remembering every little detail--“ His hand slid between her legs and she let them fall open for him. “...the way you exposed yourself to me...no one’s ever done that...” He tipped his face away so she couldn’t see his shame. “Unless I was paying her.”

“Should I take that as a compliment?”

“Yeah; do. It made me feel incredible. Like I hadn’t felt in a really long time.”

“Good,” she said simply. She still felt as though she had used him that night. She pillowed her head on his thigh and reached for his cock again, reviving his erection. Her sense of humor returned. “I’m just not sure if I really wanted to know what you’re thinking during this.”

“I want to know what you’re thinking.”

Laura licked her lips nervously. Her hand moved from his cock to draw patterns on his stomach. He looked at her expectantly.

“When I’m gone, I want you to have more children.”

“What the frak?” he roared, sitting bolt upright, nearly knocking her in the head with his knee.

“I’m serious, Bill.”

He flopped back on the pillows, pressing the heels of his hands on his eyes. “I know you are. That’s what’s pissing me off.”

“Elizabeth and Lee are fine children; humanity will need more like them.”

He laid his hand over her mouth. “Laura, some things are more important than survival. We can’t lose what makes us human in the process.” He turned his hand and cradled her chin. “You’re the last love of my life and I’m not going to replace you just to put a few more feet on the ground.”

She sighed in exasperation.

“Let me nag the kids to give us grandkids instead,” he offered.

Laura pushed herself upright. “Elizabeth can wait to have children.”

He cocked an eyebrow at her. “Oh, you want me to get some sixteen-year-old pregnant, but your sixteen-year-old has to wait.”

“Who said anything about a sixteen-year-old?” she fumed. “I was thinking some nice woman, say about thirty or so--a librarian perhaps. The two of you could share an interest in books...“

“You’ve got this all worked out, don’t you?” He turned ruthless. “I’m gonna want someone young and strong to plow the fields, not some bookworm with aging eggs.”

She gaped in disgust.

“This old stallion better have a young filly in the breeding shed if it’s gonna take.” He thumped his stomach, playing it like a bass drum. “My swimmers probably gave up years ago.”

“You are foul-minded,” she hissed.

“Your idea was foul,” he replied, stubborn. “I’m just following it through its logical course.”

They stared at each other for a moment, then Laura’s green eyes flamed as she crawled back over to his cock. She bent it towards her mouth. “Then, if you’re not going to use those swimmers, I suppose you won’t mind if I suck your balls dry.”

Biting down on his lower lip as he felt her teeth lightly graze his cock on her descent, Bill grabbed two handfuls of bedding and hung on for dear life.

Elizabeth shimmied up to Lee. He stood alone at the floor’s edge. “Come on; dance with me,” she said.

He shook his head in a wobbly motion. “I’ve done my dancing tonight.”

Elizabeth realized he was drunk, but kept teasing. “Waiting for Kara to ask you?” she said.

“I don’t think she’s dancing tonight,” he said peevishly. He scanned the pilots at the bar, but Starbuck wasn’t among them.

“Maybe she’s been waiting for you to ask her.”

“I don’t need you to fix me up with Kara Thrace,” he said, striding away, carefully putting one foot before the other.

She made a face at his retreating back.

When she left the head fifteen minutes later, Elizabeth was still fuming. Everyone was acting crazy tonight. She was about to go back into the ballroom when she caught sight of Lee as he slipped through a hatch down the corridor. She decided to investigate.

When she got to the hatch, her eyebrows raised in surprise. It was a storage compartment. She smirked. Lee must have found Kara after all. Payback time for them locking her in the bulkhead. She pressed her ear to the hatch, but it was too thick to hear anything. She was going to have to risk it.

Slowly, she turned the handle and eased the hatch open. Sure enough, two bodies grappled against the bulkhead. Her brother’s pants were down around his ankles. Legs were wrapped around his bare thighs, but they weren’t Kara--Dee’s voice cried out, ragged, “Lee!”

Elizabeth could barely resist slamming the hatch closed, but she did, shutting it carefully behind her. She breathed in and out, trying to keep from throwing up. She was blindly making her way back to the ballroom when Billy came around the corner.

“Have you seen Dee?” he asked her.

Elizabeth stared at him. “Yeah, I’ve seen her.”

Billy looked around. “Where?”

“In there.” She jerked her head towards the storage compartment.

He wrinkled his bow in confusion. “What’s she doing in there?”

“Frakking my brother.”

His mouth fell open. “What did you say?”

Elizabeth spoke slowly. “Lee Adama is banging your girlfriend against the bulkhead in there.”

“You’re lying --“ He hurried towards the hatch.

She grabbed his arm, yanking him back. “You don’t want to look. I did; you don’t need to.”

He shook his head. “I don’t get it--“

Elizabeth was suddenly furious at everyone’s stupidity. Her parents giving each other goo-goo eyes and rushing off, which meant she couldn’t go home yet. And stupid Lee and Kara and stupid Billy and Dee...

She pushed Billy against the bulkhead. “I’ll tell you what’s happened. It’s the end of civilization; we’re all cavemen again. And that woman wants the guy with big muscles so he can kill an antelope for her when we get to Earth.” She sneered at him. “What’re you gonna do for her? Take notes on antelope killing?”

He stared at her with damp eyes.

“She thinks Lee’s gonna be the chief of our new tribe and she wants to sit on the stump throne beside him.” Elizabeth slapped the wall. “Frakkin’ bitch.”

“Don’t call her that,” blustered Billy, pushing himself off the wall. He loomed over her.

“Buy a clue, Billy!” Elizabeth yelled at him. “It’s survival of the fittest.”

“You don’t know anything,” he ranted. “You sure seem really interested in our lives; wonder why that is?”

“I don’t wanna see you get hurt. Or Lee.”

“I can tell from your sensitivity. No, you just like sticking your nose in our business.” He looked her over and she was suddenly conscious how awful her hideous dress made her look. “You shouldn’t be here. You should be going to a dance with your schoolmates instead of being some little tagalong with your crushes.”

Tears pricking at her eyes, she grabbed his tie, and yanked Billy down to her eye level. She punched him on the chin. He reeled, stumbled and finally landed on his hands and knees.

Elizabeth stomped away, her puffy skirt wagging at him like a scolding finger.

He crawled up the bulkhead, catching his breath and then wiped tears and sweat off his face. His girlfriend had been stolen by the school’s star pyramid player--again. And a little girl in an ugly party dress had just kicked his ass.

“Hey, seen Lee Adama?”

Billy looked up. Kara Thrace stood before him, cradling a bottle of Ambrosia and grinning.

“What?”

“Lee; you seen him?”

Billy raked his shaking fingers through his hair. “He’s busy right now.”

“Busy?” Kara looked up and down the corridor.

“Yeah, he’s frakking Dee in that storage compartment.”

Kara’s mouth fell open. Billy snatched the bottle from her slack fingers and staggered away.

The hatch opened. Lee looked around it and spotted Kara. Shocked, he blearily blinked at her. She crossed her arms, glared back at him, then turned and marched off.

Bill languidly ran his hands up and down Laura’s bare back. He pulled the blanket up higher, trying to keep her warm. “You sleepy?” he asked.

Bright eyes glistened at him from under the curtain of curls. “Nope.”

“You should be. Busy day...busy night.”

She laid her cheek on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. “I know.”

His hands dipped under the blanket and slid along her hip. “You’ve knocked me out,” he admitted. “But maybe I can figure out something to return the favor.”

Their mouths were almost touching when the hatch clanged open. They wiggled apart in a panic.

Elizabeth looked at them and rolled her eyes. She stormed over to the drinks cart. “Do we have any ice?”

“No, honey.” Laura clamored over Bill and climbed out of the rack. Finding her robe, she tugged it on. “What’s wrong?”

“I need ice.” Elizabeth yanked the comm handset off the wall and called for it.

“What happened?” Laura picked up her daughter’s hand and looked at her swollen knuckles.

“Nothin’” Elizabeth snatched her hand away.

“It doesn’t look like nothing,” pointed out Laura.

Elizabeth turned her back.

Laura started picking up their scattered clothes. When she lifted Kara’s dress from the floor, she first fussed at the wrinkles, then shrugged. From what she’d heard through the Galactica grapevine, if Kara had worn it tonight, it would have ended up even more wrinkled and on Gods knows whose floor.

Bill found his boxers by the rack, pulled them on under the blanket and came over too.

“Let me see,” he asked.

Elizabeth backed away toward the hatch to her room. “Leave me alone! Go back to messing around!” She balled up her fists, even though her right hand hurt like hell. “Just call me when the ice gets here.”

The slam of her hatch slam reverberated through the quarters. Bill took a step toward it. Laura held him back. “Leave her.”

“Something’s wrong.”

Laura went to the head and retrieved her nightgown. “She’s fifteen; of course something’s wrong.”
