Chapter Two:
Laura walked with her guards to the Galactica galley. Tory had arranged for her to sample the first algae brought up from the planet and prepared by the ship’s chef for a broadcast to the fleet. That girl was always thinking of the poll numbers.

HEH! Yes, I think that's an astute call. And the President as well, but this is a woman who thought choosing Baltar as her VP would work out, so she's used to being in this position.
I don't know when I became a grumpy old middle-aged broad, but I truly can barely stand any of the pilots' histrionics. I watched the Miniseries and knew that I loved EJO and MM, but figured, they're killing her off, and like the old show, it's going to be all about the hotshots, so I didn't bother to become a regular viewer. Little did I know the directions the show would go, but even so, thank the gods for the FF button! Scar is just my nightmare come to life on the screen, I tell you.
And I know when I've had no sleep or food for days, and am dying of radiation poisoning, what I want to do is go frak some greasy drug dealer in a storage locker.
But at the same time, Kat's actual story is interesting, the sort of stuff I would have liked to have seen more often, and EJO's little catch in his voice when he says, "Yeah," when she asks him if he wanted a daughter GETS. ME. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
I honestly didn't feel like Bill so much "dumped" her as he just adopted her approach of keeping the other at arm's length.
But it's her version of events. ;) Builds herself a nice little wall of po' me, and goes to hide inside. The comment she has about Kara snarking on Kat that there's a special kind of guilt arising from conflict could apply to her own choices in the way she treats Bill.
They're both pretty frakking stubborn. Good thing for the Fleet that they are.
Excellent observation.
