I like the idea of spackling. I'm here with my mud and my spackle knife, madly filling in holes....

I'm astonished that Lee doesn't seem to understand that his father might like to have a girlfriend. If I could have reached through the screen and slapped him when Lee asked if Laura was still staying in Bill's quarters, and Bill had to make this excuse about her treatments. And can't understand why his father would wait in space for her. Hmmm...maybe there's a reason you never get the woman you want, bud!
Anyway, I'll put my Lee contempt aside, and say, yes, Laura does Tom a favor in the next chapter, on the crossfire front. ;)

Then again, by 22, my father had gone through WW2, and frankly, was a more mature than Lee ever is shown. I'm disappointed that the events that shape and change the other characters don't seem to have great effect on him, even his suicide attempt is sort of half-assed and ignored from then on! Who knows, maybe that was the intent--to show the one person who can battle these forces successfully.

I feel so bad for Dee. Though she brought it on herself, accepting Lee's proposal, but while she's part of the Adama clan, she's still elbowed out by Starbuck. It's sad.
I really love this series. It's gritty and painful and real and awesome.

I post a chapter a day! That's not too cruel!
It's taking me a while to get the rhythm of LJ sized chapters. I think I'm finally beginning to get it and getting the cliffhanger in the right place.
I'm so all over the place on Dee. I love the character, but what she did to Billy was WRONG, but their romance was BLEECH, yet she didn't deserve what happens to her with Lee, but she should have seen it coming a mile off...so, anyway, it was fun to use her in a scene, because at least I can get her resentment.
Because she and Adama were so close before she married his son, I found it odd that we never saw any acknowledgment from Bill that his daughter-in-law and the mess her marriage is. Definitely a fic or two there!
