"It's whimiscal."

"I spend too much time hanging out with you."

Purely by choice, of course.

He twists the key in the lock and opens the door.

"Welcome home."

"I'd say you haven't spent enough lately, honestly," Angela says.

What with the incarceration and all.

"Thank you."

She starts to go in, then pauses on the threshold and kisses her fiance.

"Missed you."

"I missed you too."

Understatement of the Common Era.

He draws out of the kiss with a quizzical look.

"Thanks for what?" he asks.

"The welcome home.

"I like those words, when you say them."

"Well, I like saying them to you."

He pushes the door open wider and ushers her inside.

"The place felt way too big with you gone."

So much so that he hadn't spent a whole lot of time at his house during the duration of the trial. He'd spent a lot of time at the lab. Or crashed on the sofa at her place.

Angela gives him a wry sort of smile.

"I really don't have that complaint about my accomodations."

Jail cells are a lot of things, but "way too big" isn't one of them.

"I guess we should talk, huh?"

Hodgins closes the door, leaning back against it.

"I guess so," he says.

"Um..." He folds his arms.

"Did you want to start?"

Angela considers this.

"Not really."

She pauses.

"Maybe later?"

Much, much later.

He'd be lying if he said he wasn't relieved.

"Food?" he asks. "Shower? Sleep in a bed wider than a ruler?"

Those are the standard menu items. But he's willing to take special orders.

"Yes to the food, and hell yes to the shower. Yes to the bed, but the sleep's gonna wait.

"And we are gonna talk, Jack, but right now I kinda just want you to shut up and kiss me."

"Anything you say, ma'am."

Priorities and all.

Priorities, indeed.

And it's safe to say it is, in fact, later -- much, much later -- that finds Angela sitting on the kitchen counter, squeezing the water out of her just-washed hair and watching Jack cook dinner.

"It smells good. What is it?"

"An exotic egg dish commonly known as the omelet."

Hodgins grins over at Angela.

God, it's good to have her back.

"Are you pro or anti-tomato today?"

"Omelets work."

Angela considers the question.

"Pro-tomato. Unless they are roma tomatoes. Then I'm . . . neutral.

"Do you need any help with anything?"

bugsandslime October 20 2008, 03:14:39 UTC
"Cherry tomatoes. They were all I had on hand."

"Do you want to tackle the coffee?"

The coffee pot is right near his elbow.

See his fiendish plan?
