I've had a bit of Freya on the mind, and she wanted me to do something, so we worked this out. Call it a break from NaNo, but here's a little something for all the Brendan/Freya lovers out there.

I don't know if I'm reading the wrong authors, but I know that a lot of people don't write the relationships that fail in fanfic. They just seem to force the romantic to work, no matter how improbable. I made a decision almost a year ago while writing Element of Soul that I didn't care if a potential ship had no long-term stability, because those two characters WOULD be attracted to each other, they WOULD go on a handful of dates, and then, they would realize just how ill-suited they were. I liked it that way.
So for me, a ship isn't necessarily romantic entanglement, it's just that two people really do fit together. Brendan and Freya have an aspect to them that makes me think they probably would be really rocky if they tried to balance their partnership with romantic involvement, and while both recognize the other as an attractive member of the opposite sex, I think it would take being in a deep cover role as a couple or the like to actually push that amount of UST to critical mass.
