"Fred Phelps declines most interview requests, citing a desire to have the focus remain on his son."

awww. What a father would do. How a father would think. I got goosebumps when I read the bold part
Sure, his dad might be a jerk, not supporting him all these years. but with his situation, we can't deny that it IS tempting to steal the spotlight now that his son is a superstar! BUT he didn't! i think that's clearheaded thinking and smart!!. it actually never even crossed my mind!!, maybe because I don't have children or i dunno wahahah For him to decline because he wants all the glory for his son!! I thought he'd at least want to congratulate him on media or something, or whatever. but I think he's smarter to know that the real, pure pride of a dad for his son would be shown privately (with no other motivations!!). or you know!! amm, am i analyzing this too much! Anyway! :) he's just taking what's due to him and i think that's very commendable :P
I'm reading the book Karkar
kar_2gave me, Affluenza by Oliver James
will quote something from page 377
"There seems to be almost no part of private life which will not be made public in America if there is financial or political profit to be made. Sincerity is big business and a source of votes."
The book was describing the difference of authenticity and sincerity.
authenticity is the core motivation is pure and clean
sincerity has this implication of being watched/seen by the public. don'tya think?:) didn't see that either
