An open letter to Michael Caine.

Dear sir,

Let me first say that you are a veritable acting genius, and I fucking love you. But please, please stop fueling the rumors for the third Batman movie. Please. Just because you say that you "heard" a studio exec claim that the only way to top Heath's performance is to cast Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the ( Read more... )

People are going to see this movie (if there even is one) whether or not Johnny Depp is in it, and I still predict that he won't. Have you seen his IMDB credit list? He has too many projects in the works; they're never going to find a big enough time slot to fit into his schedule.

I'd actually prefer Hoffman in a Batman movie over Depp. Like I said in my other comment, he's one of those comfort actors. He's good in everything, so everybody likes him. And even though he won an Oscar, he's still not that big of a name - he's more of an actor's actor than anything else, and Nolan LOVE those guys.

Look, if it did happen, he'd be great. I know that. I've sat through some pretty terrible movies for Johnny Depp - I've made my GRANDPARENTS sit through the worst of his movies, and they are movie snobs like you wouldn't believe. I'm just saying that I don't WANT it to happen. I was a Batman fan before I even knew that Johnny Depp existed, but even if I had just discovered Batman this summer, I wouldn't want Johnny Depp to be in the next movie. To me, Nolanverse is like a black-and-white film, and Johnny Depp is Technicolor. It just doesn't fit. That's all.

You know, I'm not sure I've seen a more serious example of immaturity.

Um, do you even know what your sentence means? I was talking about the movie-the movie is just entertainment.
