CHARACTERS PLAYED IN ZODION: N/A

✖ CHARACTER:
NAME: Maxxie Oliver
CANON: Skins (UK version)
PB: Mitch Hewer!
INFO LINKS: Wikipedia, Skins wiki
CANON POINT: Post-S2
GENDER/SEX: Physically and mentally male
AGE: 19
BIRTHDATE/SIGN: Maxxie doesn't have a canon birthday, so using the sign descriptions supplied by Zodion (as well as a birth chart online where I calculated rising signs, etc), I've decided to give Maxxie a birthday of June 9, 1988, which makes him a Gemini. Gemini are described as entertaining, charming, and very sensual/sexual people who can also be capricious, non-committal and kind of impractical, and that description fits Maxxie basically to a T.
TATTOO: Maxxie's tattoo will be about 2" square and located on the back of his neck, right at the top of his spine.
SUITABILITY: Maxxie's 19, so N/A!
POWER: In Skins canon, Maxxie doesn't have any powers (no one does), so based on the list I decided that the healing power would be best suited for him.

PERSONALITY: On the surface, Maxxie is basically your standard happy-go-lucky gay boy blond teenager from Bristol who likes partying and hanging out on the green with his friends. He's very cheerful, and while he usually acts like he's not the brightest crayon in the box, he's very reliably the go-to for anyone who needs a lift in their mood. Maxxie is, for the most part, everybody's friend but almost nobody's best friend, with the exception of Anwar Kharral, who's been his best friend for ages. Maxxie would rather be laughing, and he doesn't usually let things get him down-even when Tony accidentally drives their car into the harbor with all of them in it, Maxxie comes out laughing about the whole situation. He's always up to have fun and party and just generally have a good time.

However, that's not to say that Maxxie is just an airheaded bubbly blond. Though it might not seem this way at first, he's actually a surprisingly deep and passionate person when it's something he really cares about. For instance, dancing-even though Maxxie's not from the best socioeconomic situation (his parents live in a council estate, basically a housing project, and work blue-collar jobs to make ends meet), he is so passionate about dancing that he would rather give up university entirely to pursue it than take a more practical job as a builder with his father. This is one of the few things that Maxxie won't be budged on. Dancing is like breathing to him, and if he can't do it, he doesn't feel like his life has much of a purpose; he would rather take the risk of being a starving artist in London and do what he loves than sacrifice his dancing for a more secure future.

Another thing that Maxxie won't budge about is his sexuality. He's openly gay, and even though Maxxie's situation would make it easy to pretend to be straight and just skate by like that, he refuses to be anything other than who he is-even when he takes shit for it from friends and enemies alike. Maxxie's been on the receiving end of his fair share of crap about his sexuality from strangers, including threats and taunts from the boys on his council estate, but that's one thing. Maxxie has also taken shit from his friends, and that's something that's much harder to deal with, which I think illustrates how strongly he feels the need to be himself no matter what other people think. Anwar, Maxxie's best friend, was raised Muslim, and even though he doesn't adhere very strongly to the Muslim ideology, Anwar is still very uncomfortable with Maxxie's sexuality. He tells Maxxie that it's gross and wrong, and even though Anwar later seems to change his stance a bit-in that he doesn't stop hanging out with Maxxie or calling him or anything like that-Maxxie still refuses to back down. He tells Anwar that if Anwar won't tell his parents that Maxxie's gay, they can't be friends anymore.

The third thing that Maxxie is very passionate about is his friends. Maxxie is an incredibly loyal, reliable friend, whether someone needs him for just a laugh or for something more serious. At the end of S1 of Skins, Maxxie's friend Tony gets hit by a bus and winds up with a subdural hematoma that changes his personality drastically. Not only does he now need help doing even basic tasks like eating, dressing himself, and writing his own name, Tony's personality has changed radically-where he was kind of an asshole and a narcissistic wanker before, now he's quiet, withdrawn, and often has fits of frustration and fear where he lashes out at everyone around him. Even though all the rest of Tony's friends basically abandon him because he's a burden and they don't know how to handle it, Maxxie stays by Tony's side and helps him through it all. He takes Tony around the town and brings him over for dinner and even takes him to a party that nobody else invited Tony to, and just generally takes it upon himself to be the shoulder that Tony needs to lean on. Maxxie has infinite patience and love for his friends and would do anything for them, even when it means taking too much responsibility onto his own shoulders-anything to make his friends happy.

Actually, in a lot of ways the things I listed above are both strengths and flaws for Maxxie. Because Maxxie is so reliably the good cheer of the group, it's hard for him to express serious emotions and feel like his friends will take him seriously (with the exception of Anwar, that is). Also, Maxxie's comfort with his sexuality and his willingness to experiment gives him a reputation as a slut around his school, which is actually kind of true-Maxxie ends up being sort of indiscriminate about who he sleeps with, even going so far as to sleep with one of the same estate chavs who calls him "fag". And finally, the fact that Maxxie is so fucking reliable to his friends means that a lot of his self-image ends up being based on how other people see him-when people like him and treat him like a friend, he's okay with himself, but when people start pushing him away or treating him badly, Maxxie doesn't know how to handle it, and it ends up negatively impacting his self-image.

[Maxxie's sitting on his bed, wearing… well, not a lot-his sheets are wrapped loosely around his waist, which keeps him more or less modest, but it's obvious that he's not really that concerned with nakedness. he obviously has much deeper and more important things to worry about.]

So I've got to wonder, being as this is-well, you know, sort of a sexy place. Have they got drugs and things here? [this is a serious question, and Maxxie looks very thoughtful.] Since drinking a lot or smoking or whatever makes it hard to get it up… Seems like they wouldn't like it much, for the worshipping and the sex and. Yeah.

[leave it to the party boy to wonder about the drugs.]

Anyway, hello! I dunno if I've properly introduced myself, so-I'm Maxxie! [a grin and a wave, and boy, isn't someone in a good mood?] I'm sort of new, so if anybody'd like to show me around I'd definitely take you up on that.

"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry: Maxxie falls asleep on James' shoulder and wakes up somewhere else.

At first he thinks he's dreaming. He's had some bloody lucid dreams before, after all, sometimes drug-inspired, sometimes just the result of a lot of stress and an overactive imagination-so it's not outside the realm of possibility. But it doesn't feel like a dream, not really. In dreams, Maxxie can't feel breeze on his skin or the weight of his clothes, whatever. His dreams aren't this vivid.

Of course, there aren't that many other explanations for why he's suddenly standing in what look like the ruins of ancient Rome or Greece or somewhere Mediterranean, staring at a glowing box on some great stone pedestal thing. That's just unreal. Reality, right now, is a bus on the way to London, his best friend on his right and his boyfriend on his left and an entire universe of possibility opening up under his feet.

"All right, Oliver," he says aloud, tilting his head and considering the box. Talking to himself feels a little crazy, but weirder things have happened, right? "If it's a dream, obviously you've got to open the box. If it's not a dream then obviously something's gone very bloody wrong but I think either way probably opening the box is the best first step. Safe? Okay." So Maxxie does, stepping forward with the intent of opening the box-

Only he doesn't quite make it there. He steps into some water (was that there before? Hadn't he noticed?) and things go a bit funny, the water rising up, his reflection-like a mirror-only he's naked, and bloody hell this has got to be a dream, but even in Maxxie's most acid-washed imaginings he has never come up with something like this. "Okay," he says, taking a deep breath and steadying himself, because the edges of his calm are fraying and he doesn't know what to do about that. "There's that, then."

There's a prickling sort of buzzing sensation on the back of his neck, and when he glances up and meets his own eyes in the water-mirror, he can see a mark there-a square sort of thing, like a tattoo, only it's glowing, and Maxxie's never seen a glowing tattoo. He can't see the back of his neck, even if he tries, but when he reaches up and cups his hand around the nape the flesh feels warm and tingly. That answer will have to suffice.

"This isn't possible," Maxxie says, keeping his hand pressed to his skin even as he crouches, resting his forehead against his knees and taking a breath. "There's no bloody such thing as alternate universes or-or magic, or whatever, and even-even if there was, it wouldn't be me, would it? I mean, for fuck's sake-" He cuts himself off, because talking about it makes it real, and spends a moment staring at the backs of his eyelids before he straightens up and breathes again.

"Dream it is, then," he announces to the world at large, and reaches for the box.
