So, as I was thinking what to include in an update (and for once I actually had at least moderately interesting things to choose from) and I realized that I failed to mention
.
So, every day we have 2 lectures. Speakers come in, rather distinguished ones, and give us a roughly hour long lecture on things like medieval architecture, the Crusades, or the Black Death. After that, time is usually ours. Frequent activities include grocery shopping, actual shopping, reading for class, and the occasional group discussion seminar. Also, making lunch, dinner, or the assorted snack, and hanging out in the common room. (whoo hoo! common rooms!)
Hmm...that's less interesting sounding than I anticipated. Ah yes- this isn't *terribly* thrilling, but we find it an enjoyable enough pasttime to frquently go out to various pubs for an hour or so. Sometimes I'll grab a drink, sometimes just chill and chat with the group. Not a particular fan of the ale/beer, but they have this cider with a shot of black current flavoring which is tasty enough, so I'll get those.
As much as I am totally loving being here, there are some things I miss. My friends, of course. And getting able to watch Scrubs on Tuesday. I miss Scrubs. And the new series, Lost. I've heard good things, and thankfully I'm able to download at least the first ep from buffy.nu. But I can handle the missing of things for a while. Will have to go visit on a shopping binge Tuesdays to recover from my horrible lack of Zach Braff and co. ;D
Watched Muppet Treasure Island today- I love that movie so much. And the Muppets in general, actually. They are just brilliant, from first to last. Impressively funny to all age groups, and funny on many levels, so I can watch the movies every so often and enjoy something new as well as the general Henson genius.
Also, have read a bunch of HP fanfic in the last week or so. Mostly pretty great stuff, though it varies from my fave pairings or situations more often than not. Was terribly upset to learn that I think every single one of the stories I read was as yet uncompleted. I mean, you get a few chapters into the thing, gewt interested, then find out they haven't updated in 6 months. *is sad*
And, I think I have fallen in love with Draco Malfoy. Among other symptoms, any story where he is truely evil and the 'bad guy' is implausible and awkward in my head. I love pretty much any story with him in it, though of course he should be snarky and still *Malfoy* in it. You know, like Spike can be sweet to Buffy or whatever, and have the occasional good intention in helping someone else, but is generally sarcastic, and we love him for it.
Let's hear it for those once evil, sarcastic, platinum blonds, ladies and gentlemen. Goodnight.
