I have always felt that Vader handled that situation with Luke in Empire Strikes Back badly. Cutting off your son's hand does NOT show love. You couldn't have told him before fighting?
So, here, have a fic AU recommendation, where Vader pulls himself back from the situation, and has the very capable Peitt tell Luke first.
PS, if any knows of any other fics where Vader handles the "I am your father" bit so that no one looses a body part, please let me know.
