Paintings!

So I decided to take a painting class, and study gouache, even though I work mornings a lot. Haha. I'm good at overburdening myself. Sigh.

Gouache is an interesting medium. My teacher compared it to tempera. Jacob Lawerence is a good example of an artist who worked in gouache. I can see why he painted in flat panes of color. Using it, I felt like one of those old fresco painters, where you have to mix and paint in small bits fast, because it dries fast. I'd say it dries a little less faster than acrylics, but it's not transparent like regular watercolor.

Anyway, I did not manage to complete everything but oh well...

Anyway, pictures! (Pictures can also be found on my Instagram, or FB studio, or DeviantArt account.)

This was one of the first, we had to do a Georgia O'Keeffe style image of a flower.

And we had to do a surrealist style painting... so landscape with discarded socks...

(The socks because we had to go outside to take what would the background basis for our surreal landscapes, and I saw the socks in the parking lot.)

This was the 'pattern' project. I'm not sure this would look good as a wallpaper, or as a curtain, or fabric cloth, but I'd like to expand on it. Make it on 22x30 inch paper, flip the gray part to 'mirror' at top (so it's both at top and bottom) and make the green part in the middle bigger.

And a model, of course.....

And this is unfinished... mannequin with a tote of mannequin parts.... but it needs more 'parts'. LOL I think I need to get onto the internet and ask folks to send me their pictures of mannequin parts.
