Now my foot....

So, I've always been 'over-protonating' for years.

Seriously, like back in high school, I noticed that those little ballet flat type shoes didn't look right on me. My feet sort of roll to the inside a bit, especially the left foot, which doesn't have the muscle of the right one.

Pretty much every year, I've gotten a pair of New Balance's shoes that are meant for someone who over-protenates. They have these really crazy arch supports, and make you feel like you're walking on the outside of your foot.

But this year's pair hasn't help as much as previous pairs. There's now a bump forming over the bone on my left foot, right below the ankle, and it hurts if I've been standing all day. So I finally go see the doctor, who sends me to a podiatrist.

The podiatrist said "yup", "yup", "yup" on my complaints. I got the funny feeling he's seen this sort of case before. He thinks I've popped out the tendon that goes from behind the heel to the inside of the foot.

The nurse got out foam and tape, without him even asking. He cut foam in this weird funny twisty shape, put it on the sole, and taped up my foot.

Now I have to keep it dry until next week. Sigh. I will admit it felt too tight at first, but now it actually feels more comfortable. Plus my foot is in a good position where that bump isn't touching anything, and I'm not rolling over to the inside of the foot.

So next week, I'll see him again, after he's seen the xrays. I also let him know that they did an ultrasound of the soft tissue around that bone.

And then he'll tell me more. I suspect I'm heading for surgery.... sigh.

On the fibroid front, no word yet from the insurance. The surgery coordinator at Dr. Leftholz' office said that the insurance has 60 to 90 days to respond to our request. So I guess I'll call back after that, if I don't get a letter from the insurance.

Anyway... how is everyone else doing?

health, fibroids!
