So I thought about making a new hat box. Can't be that hard, right?
Okay, I realize that I may have just jinxed myself there.
But I've got acid free matboard, plus glue, and some paint. I also have a large cardboard hat box I can use as a pattern. Oh, and spray on lacquer.
(Note: if you get spray on lacquer on your hands, it does not come off easily.)
So I went cruising the internet looking for hatbox making directions. Found quite a few, though most were for small hatboxes that you might keep jewelry in. Saw one for a miniature satin lined hatbox that would be just adorable. And perfect for an aunt who likes minis.
I hit a porn link. Which made me wonder how "make a hatbox" ties into a porn video. lol! It's like the time I was internet surfing with "hairsticks" as my search term and I came across a link for a porn video "Long Hair of Death." And yes, hairsticks was in the summary for it.
I didn't click the link because I so didn't want to know. lol!
Anyway... I came across this organization.
http://www.hatboxfoundation.org/ They take monetary donations (who doesn't) but they also take knitted/crocheted hats for sick folks.
Now I'm wondering if they would take a hat I've fancied up. I bought two straw hats at Kohl's last fall for 80% off and I like decorate my hats with ribbons and scarves. One of those hats, (the straw ones) I've had this idea involving ribbons, flowers and a bow, but I haven't put it together yet.
Anyway...
Hmmm... maybe if they don't want it, I could visit the local oncology place and ask them if they want my fancied up straw hat. Or if any of y'all know somewhere I can drop it off, let me know.
(^_^)/
